Length: Fulltime (40h a week)
Please note: In order to be considered, you must be enrolled in education for the full duration of the internship.
Tesla develops high-performance electric vehicles, stationary energy storage systems, and solar energy technology. The focus is to reduce the environmental impact of transportation and electric energy use by accelerating the adoption of electric vehicle, energy storage, and solar technologies. Tesla’s stationary storage and solar electricity business unit (Energy Products) is focused on increasing levels of dispatchable renewable electricity generation. The suite of battery systems developed by Tesla also performs a variety of other high value functions for utilities, businesses, and residential customers. The fast-growing EU team is adding a top team member with a focus on new projects in UK and mainland Europe.

What You’ll Do
The Project Engineering Internship role is multi-faceted will support primarily on the development of new large grid connected projects. The role provides support to the business team during the sale and specification of new projects, during the design and approval phase of a project, and on to the installation and commissioning of systems.
The Project Engineers based in Europe provide a key link between Tesla products/projects in their region and the engineering and manufacturing teams based in the US. It is vital that they have the skills and ability to work on a wide range of engineering issues and the knowledge and experience to operate with a high degree of self-sufficiency.
  • Assist in the specification and sales process of the team. Learn how to act as a technical point of contact, both within Tesla and with customers, to articulate how Tesla’s technology can be deployed in various applications / sites
  • Assist in the design and documentation required to facilitate the safe and effective delivery of a project
  • Support the approval / permitting process of new projects
  • Learn from operational systems and apply this information within the Energy specific team
What You’ll Bring
The broad scope of this role requires strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals across mechanical, electrical and thermal. Besides a rock-solid work ethic and a strong team oriented personality, members of our team display creativity, passion, and a desire to break new ground in a constantly shifting technology landscape.
  • Must be currently enrolled in academic studies in electrical engineering (power system background a plus)
  • Level C1 in English (written and spoken) and an additional European language is a plus
  • Proficiency in Autocad or other drafting program skills required
  • Proficiency in Python, MatLab and/or similar is a plus
  • Good multitasker
  • Proactive mindset
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Able to do a 6 month internship starting April/May
  • Enrolled throughout the entire internship in education
