Senior Nuclear Scaling Engineer
- Perform scaling analysis to determine applicability of legacy data for code assessment on sodium fast reactor applications.
- Determine key distortions and provide technical assessment of their applicability for use in licensing topical reports.
- Perform scaling studies of new in-house test facilities to determine applicability with demonstration plant.
- Review scaling studies performed by other engineers for technical adequacy and approach.
- Perform code benchmarking and validation analyses to support code qualification and methodology development using RELAP5-3D following the EMDAP process (NuReg 1.203).
- Develop/modify methodology studies demonstrating foundational scaling methodology to aid in licensing of Natrium.
- Support selection, procurement and qualification of applicable legacy test data.
- B.S. (+ 9 years), M.S. (+7 years), or PhD (+ 5 year) in nuclear, mechanical, or another related engineering/scientific field.
- Demonstrated experience with scaling analysis and test requirement development in the nuclear or related industry.
- Familiarity with NRC scaling methodologies (H2TS or similar) as it pertains to RG 1.203
- Strong thermal-hydraulic analytical skills with one dimensional hydraulic network analysis, system codes experience and transient analysis.
- Familiarity with code V&V and associated regulatory requirements.
- Knowledgeable in nuclear systems thermal-hydraulic, reactor dynamics, and transient phenomena.
- Experience with nuclear power plant design or operations a plus.
- Experience in working in multi-disciplinary engineering teams to address engineering challenges.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.
- Motor Abilities: Sitting and/or standing for extended periods, bending/stooping, grasping/gripping, fine motor control (hands)
- Physical exertion and/or requirements: Minimal, with ability to safely lift up to 25 pounds

Salary Range Level 12: $169,922 - $235,464
Salary Range Level 13: $194,197 - $279,158
- Typically, our employee salaries are within .90 – 1.0 of the mid-point of the posted salary band. Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individual’s qualifications and experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
