Job Description
Lead planning and production control across a portfolio of concurrent EPC and PMC projects in oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical and energy, set the schedule, turn it into a working production plan on the ground, and drive recovery when things slip, safely, on budget, on quality. The senior planning team runs individual project schedules and reports into this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and production control function and set the procedures, coding structure, calendars and progress rules the projects run on.
- Build and maintain L1 to L4 schedules in Primavera P6, and MS Project where needed, covering engineering through commissioning.
- Turn the approved schedule into a working production plan with work-front priorities, weekly look-aheads and clear output targets.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, material control, fabrication, construction, quality and logistics to confirm readiness before work starts.
- Maintain the Document Control Index, Material Control Index and Construction Control Index with the execution teams.
- Track planned versus actual progress, productivity and resource use, and catch bottlenecks and constraints early.
- Build production forecasts, capacity assessments, resource histograms, S-curves and recovery plans when performance drops below target.
- Run schedule risk reviews, critical path analysis and delay analysis, and support EOT and cost recovery submissions with solid records.
- Lead the daily, weekly and monthly planning and production review meetings and follow up open actions to closure.
- Align the baseline schedule with material availability, fabrication priorities, site needs and subcontractor plans.
- Prepare weekly and monthly dashboards for management covering progress, productivity, forecasts, risks and decisions.
- Support proposals with execution strategy, schedules, resource plans and productivity assumptions.
- Build and develop the planning and production control team, including the senior planning engineers running individual project schedules.
- Standardize planning processes, digital dashboards, automated reporting and lessons learned.
- Represent the planning and schedule position to the client directly and lead EOT and claims strategy.
Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Production, Industrial or Civil Engineering. PMP or PMI-SP certification preferred.
Must Have
- 15 to 18 years in planning, project controls and production controls, with real leadership on major EPC projects
- Oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical, power or energy project background, including fabrication yard and site exposure
- Advanced hands-on Primavera P6, working in MS Project and Excel; Power BI a plus
- Strong grip on EPC execution, production sequencing, progress measurement, productivity and resource loading
- Working knowledge of EVM, delay analysis and contractual/change reporting
- Proven track record building and developing a planning team
Comfortable representing planning directly to clients, subcontractors and vendors
