? Organization Description
Teachers’ Empowerment and Advocacy League (TEAL) is a teacher-led nonprofit committed to empowering educators by amplifying their voices in shaping education policies, curricula, and research. Guided by our core values of teacher-centered focus, empowerment, advocacy, and equitable voice, we strive to create a more equitable, teacher-led education system.
? In this role, you will:
- Advise on integrating sustainable and regenerative practices into TEAL’s educational programs and resources, including outdoor and place‑based education, as well as environmental and community‑focused initiatives.
- Collaborate with TEAL’s co‑CEOs to suggest and review materials for the regenerative education toolkit – providing educators with templates for bringing regenerative education to their schools.
- Offer insight on current research and discourse concerning outdoor/place‑based pedagogies and sustainability education to ensure TEAL can offer guidance and assistance to educators as they co‑create.
- Identify and recommend other experts and potential partners who can advance TEAL’s mission in environmental education and ecological regeneration.
⏱️ Time Commitment:
- Term: 2 years, renewable for a maximum of 3 consecutive terms.
- Meetings: Annual meeting, at least 2-of-4 quarterly meetings, and occasional special topic meetings (all virtual).
- Availability: 1-2 pre-scheduled video calls with co-CEOs per quarter and occasional email correspondence.
✅ You’re likely a great fit for this role if you:
- Have taught environmentally focused courses such as “AP Environmental Science” or other sustainability-focused K-12 science courses
- Have held a leadership position in a climate-focused nonprofit which offers educational programs
- Have developed locally focused, place-based science curricula
