Role Description
Postdoctoral Researcher – Agrivoltaic Systems and GIS–MCDA Modeling
This is a full-time, on-site postdoctoral position at Tarbiat Modares University in Tehran, Iran, under the Iran National Agrivoltaic Development Program. The selected researcher will contribute to the development of the Agrivoltaic Suitability Index (ASI) and the creation of Iran’s first Agrivoltaic Atlas, integrating solar energy and agricultural datasets through advanced GIS–MCDA modeling.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting spatial and statistical analyses of environmental, climatic, and agricultural data.
- Developing and validating multi-criteria decision-making models (MCDA, AHP).
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams on solar–agriculture integration strategies.
- Preparing technical reports, peer-reviewed publications, and supporting teaching or supervision activities when needed.
This position is funded by the Iran National Science Foundation (INSF) under the Special Program of Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Environment, in collaboration with Iran’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA).
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Renewable Energy Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Science, Geoinformatics, or a closely related field.
- Proven expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial data analysis.
- Strong background in renewable energy modeling or agricultural land-use assessment.
- Proficiency in multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA, AHP).
- Experience with solar resource assessment and climate data modeling.
- Programming skills in Python for spatial data processing and visualization (preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in interdisciplinary research environments.
