The Organisation

With a vision of a just and thriving Asia powered by renewable energy, Tara Climate Foundation is a new and rapidly expanding philanthropic initiative focusing on South, Southeast, and East Asia (excluding China and India). In the Philippines, Tara is working with 35 civil society and research organizations, think tanks, non-state actors, and the private sector to accelerate a just clean energy transition.

Tara Climate was previously hosted by the European Climate Foundation but is now an independent entity headquartered in Singapore, but with a team spread throughout the region. Tara plays three main roles: providing grants to a diverse group of partners, constantly developing and assessing strategy, and the convening of partners within and across borders.

The Role
  
In this role you will support the expansion of the Philippines program by developing and implementing emerging strategies and scaling up programs and partners, particularly in sustainable economic development, clean finance, and corporate decarbonization.

The role requires an understanding of the Philippines energy landscape, including the government’s industry and economic development policies, clean finance mechanisms, corporate decarbonization policies and their decision-making processes. You will also be grant writing and grant managing, reporting to funders and building strong networks with corporations, financial institutions and industry associations.


Skills Required
  
Ideally you have a corporate/sustainable finance engagement experience plus advocacy or campaigns experience developed in a rights-driven organization, as well as an understanding of the opportunities and challenges as the Philippines transitions to a clean energy and sustainable future. You are used to working broadly across the corporate sector, industry associations, public and private financial institutions, NGOs, think tanks, and government agencies. 
  
Your knowledge and understanding of the political, economic, and cultural context in the Philippines is current, and in line with Tara’s focus on accelerating Asia's energy transformation, contributing to a sustainable economy and social well-being.  You will also have the following experience and skills;
  • Proven ability to articulate, translate and implement strategy in a compelling way
  • Understanding of business development planning in the corporate and finance sectors
  • Demonstrated policy analysis, communication, and networking skills
  • Flexibility and interpersonal agility to work in remote settings with multi-cultural teams
  • Impeccable ethics and experience working confidentially and operating with high security
  • Fluency in written and oral English and Filipino; demonstrated ability to write briefing papers, funding proposals and evidence and impact reports
