The Role

The Senior Superintendent will lead field execution across multiple commercial rooftop and community solar projects throughout the Chicagoland region and surrounding Illinois markets. This individual will oversee daily site operations, subcontractor coordination, schedule performance, safety, and quality from mobilization through commissioning and turnover.

Unlike national travel superintendent roles, this position is regionally focused, with projects generally located within driving distance of the Chicago area rather than requiring rotational travel schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead field execution for C&I rooftop and community solar projects
  • Manage subcontractors, field crews, and day-to-day site operations
  • Drive schedule, safety, quality, and production performance
  • Coordinate with project management, engineering, and commissioning teams
  • Conduct site walks, safety meetings, and quality inspections
  • Support AHJ inspections, utility coordination, and project closeout
  • Mentor junior field personnel and help maintain a strong jobsite culture

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of superintendent or field leadership experience within solar, electrical, or industrial construction
  • Experience delivering C&I rooftop solar and/or community solar projects
  • Strong understanding of solar construction sequencing, NEC, and OSHA standards
  • Ability to read construction drawings and manage multiple active projects
  • OSHA 30 required; NABCEP preferred
  • Ability to travel locally throughout Illinois as project needs require
