Senior/Development Manager – Renewable Energy (BESS & Hybrid Projects)


Location: Sydney or Melbourne, Australia


About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Development Manager to join a growing renewable energy team, focusing on Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and hybrid solar-storage developments. You will be responsible for progressing projects from the early development phase through to Ready-to-Build (RTB), while identifying new opportunities to expand the project portfolio.

Working alongside technical, commercial, and external stakeholders, you will play a key role in managing project development activities, securing approvals, and ensuring projects are delivered in line with business objectives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of utility-scale BESS and hybrid renewable energy projects across New South Wales, Victoria, and Tasmania.
  • Source and evaluate new development opportunities through site identification, desktop assessments, and feasibility analysis, considering planning, land, and grid connection requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, consultants, and other key stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
  • Negotiate and manage land access arrangements, option agreements, and other development-related contracts.
  • Work closely with engineering and technical teams to review project layouts, preliminary designs, and technical studies.
  • Identify development risks and provide practical recommendations to improve project feasibility and delivery outcomes.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and development milestones, ensuring resources are effectively allocated across multiple active projects.


Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience delivering renewable energy development projects within the Australian market.
  • Strong understanding of development processes, particularly in land acquisition, planning approvals, and/or grid connection.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and contract management skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance project priorities across a diverse development pipeline.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Based in Sydney or Melbourne.
