The company

Our client is a major Australian energy‑infrastructure organisation with a diverse national portfolio spanning gas, electricity, solar, and wind assets. With operations across every mainland state and territory and a workforce of more than 1,900 people, the business plays a significant role in delivering energy to communities and supporting the transition to a more sustainable future.

The role

Reporting to the Head of Climate, you will play a key role in leading the preparation of the organisation’s annual climate disclosures, uplifting systems and processes to meet new regulatory requirements, and embedding physical and transition risk assessments across the business.

This is a pivotal role for an experienced climate professional to apply their expertise in climate risk, reporting, and disclosures. With the recent release of a refreshed Climate Transition Plan and the introduction of legislated climate‑disclosure requirements, this position offers the opportunity to help shape the organisation’s approach to climate risk management and transparency.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation of annual climate reporting and disclosures in line with AASB S2 and emerging global standards.
  • Establish and maintain systems and processes to ensure climate data is accurate, auditable, and assurance‑ready.
  • Embed physical and transition risk processes into business decision‑making, collaborating closely with technical and commercial teams.
  • Manage delivery of the organisation’s Climate Transition Plan, ensuring progress on key actions and alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Provide expert analysis and advice on climate‑disclosure trends, legislation, and industry best practice.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to uplift reporting capability and support consistent integration of climate risk across the organisation.

About you

You bring a strong practical understanding of climate change—including policy, emissions, and decarbonisation—along with solid knowledge of key decarbonisation concepts.

You will also have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in climate science, environmental science, engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in climate risk, emissions data, program management, or climate‑related disclosures for a large or listed organisation.
  • Experience developing disclosures aligned with TCFD, ISSB, or similar frameworks.
  • A strong understanding of enterprise‑wide physical and transition risk‑assessment processes and systems.
  • Demonstrated project‑management capability, including navigating complex governance pathways.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide expert guidance and influence outcomes across a large organisation.
