Work at the frontiers of deep-tech and hardware innovation that fights for climate justice!

Takachar is a global organization, spun out of MIT, with a vision to dramatically increase the amount of biomass (crop and forest residues) economically converted into useful bio-products. Our impacts include income and job creation in rural areas, as well as mitigation of CO2 emission and air pollution associated with conventional open-air biomass residue burning. We have been recognized and supported by awards such as the Earthshot Prize, Elon Musk’s X- Prize, Bill Gate’s Breakthrough Energy Fellowship and the UNEP Young Champions of the Earth Award 2020

Role: Industrial Design Intern

Reports To: Product Development Lead / Manager

Position Type: Internship

Compensation: As per industry standard

Location: Delhi, India

The role focuses on creating high-quality 3D renders and animations from CAD models for product visualization.

It includes developing user manuals, technical illustrations, and branded graphic assets.

The candidate will collaborate with the design team and support documentation through shop-floor insight.

Responsibilities:

Product Visualization: Convert complex Onshape CAD models into high-fidelity 3D renders and animations for the TAKAVATOR, showcasing its functionality for stakeholders and marketing.

User Manual & Technical Illustration: Design comprehensive user manuals, assembly guides, and maintenance SOPs. Create "exploded views" and step-by-step diagrams to simplify complex mechanical tasks for end-users.

Graphic Design & Branding: Develop graphic assets for the TAKAVATOR project, including labels, safety signage, pitch deck visuals, and interface graphics for control panels.

Design-to-User Handoff: Work closely with the Mechanical/Product Design team to understand the product’s first principles and ensure that all visual documentation accurately reflects the engineering reality.

Prototyping Feedback: Participate in shop-floor visits to observe the assembly process firsthand, using these insights to improve the clarity of user manuals and training materials.

 Desirable Skills and Experience:

Visualization Tools: Proficiency in rendering software (e.g., KeyShot, Blender, or VRay) and the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop). Licensed software proficiency is required.

CAD Literacy: Ability to navigate and export from Onshape or similar CAD software to prepare models for visualization.

Technical Communication: A strong eye for layout and “Visual Storytelling”—the ability to explain complex machines through simple, clean graphics.

User-Centric Mindset: Understanding of Design Thinking and UX principles as applied to physical products and industrial environments.

Collaboration: A proactive attitude to integrate design aesthetics with technical shop-floor requirements.

• Currently pursuing a B.Des or M.Des in Industrial Design, Product Design, or Visual Communication.

• A strong portfolio demonstrating 3D rendering and graphic layout skills (user manual examples are a plus).

Fluent English is essential for creating technical documentation.

• Interest in climate tech, sustainability, and “First Principles” engineering.
