Commercial Building Engineer
We have an outstanding career opportunity for a Commercial Building Engineer to join a leading company; this is a fulltime/direct opportunity located in Charlotte, NC.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the hands-on maintenance of building systems for the safe, efficient, and proper operations of all assigned properties.
- This position will perform minor repairs and helps in the operation, monitoring, and performance of preventative maintenance on building systems to include life safety systems as necessary.
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs of commercial and retail spaces within the multi-use development.
- Troubleshoot and address HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems issues promptly and effectively
- Monitor and maintain building automation systems to optimize energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
- Respond to tenant inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner, ensuring high levels of tenant satisfaction.
- Coordinate and oversee contracted services for specialized repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance activities to extend the lifespan of building equipment and systems.
- Collaborate with property management to plan and execute capital improvement projects.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment specifications.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes, conducting regular safety inspections.
- Monitor and manage building systems' performance to meet sustainability and energy efficiency goals.
- Provide input on budgeting for maintenance and repair activities.
Basic Hiring Criteria:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in commercial building maintenance and engineering.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with building automation systems and energy management practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with tenants and team members.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience with budgeting, cost estimation, and vendor management.
- Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Building Operator Certification (BOC) are a plus.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
