Primary Summary
The Warehouse Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing all warehouse operations during assigned shifts. This role includes managing daily workflows, assigning tasks, ensuring inventory accuracy, maintaining safety standards, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations & Coordination
- Oversee daily warehouse activities, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
- Coordinate tasks between departments and maintain communication with other functional teams.
- Manage incoming and outgoing shipments, inventory storage, and order fulfillment.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory movement and ensure data integrity across all systems.
Process & System Management
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve warehouse operating procedures.
- Plan warehouse layout and optimize storage organization.
- Ensure inventory accuracy through routine cycle counts and full physical inventories.
- Manage proper classification and storage of all warehouse materials.
Safety & Compliance
- Monitor warehouse conditions and enforce safety protocols (fire prevention, theft prevention, moisture control, etc.).
- Conduct regular safety inspections and address any identified hazards promptly.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership & Training
- Lead, supervise, and schedule warehouse staff during assigned shifts.
- Provide on-the-job training and support to team members.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and promote continuous improvement.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work culture through regular communication and feedback.
Quality Control & Continuous Improvement
- Oversee handling of defective or slow-moving inventory.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2–3 years of experience in a warehouse or logistics environment.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control, and safety standards.
- Familiarity with logistics, supply chain practices, and quality control processes.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with WMS or ERP systems preferred.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Physical ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
- Detail-oriented and capable of multitasking under pressure.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
