Sustii is recruiting an Energy Supply Manager on behalf of a major London-based higher education institution, to lead metering, energy supply contracts, energy centre operations, billing and forecasting across a large, complex estate.

This role sits within an Energy Transition function working towards a 2040 net zero carbon target, and it's a commercially focused role at the heart of how the organisation buys, manages and pays for its energy.

What you'll be doing:

You'll develop and own the estate's metering strategy and roadmap, including business cases and delivery oversight, and lead utilities procurement strategy with energy centre operations, risk and net zero ambitions all in view. You'll manage metering and billing contracts (MOP, DADC, bill validation), ensure supply contracts meet volume, source and demand profile requirements, and manage utilities supply agreements to ensure they meet renewable electricity standards and targets. You'll also manage the energy centre contract to keep the power and heat network operating within agreed performance.

On the financial side, you'll work with finance and development teams on internal recharging and leased property arrangements, manage energy and utilities budgets, forecasts and business cases, and make sure energy centre operations and imported energy deliver best value.

You'll work closely with development teams to flag new connections and capacity risks early, partner with procurement to define and deliver the energy procurement strategy, tender and negotiate supply contracts, and work with colleagues across the business to model energy centre operations and manage the phase-out of CHP. You'll act as the organisation's subject matter expert on energy supply and represent it across sector networks and regulator forums.

What we're looking for:

• A degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Science) or equivalent professional experience
• Solid experience managing MOP and DADC energy contracts
• Direct experience working with energy suppliers and DNOs
• Strong understanding of UK energy markets, utilities contracts, renewable energy supply and regulatory requirements
• Good understanding of the new energy connections process and metering (power, gas and heat)
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder skills, comfortable managing complex, sometimes difficult conversations diplomatically
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with the confidence to simplify complex issues for a wide range of audiences
• Experience managing energy centre, CHP or heat network contracts, and higher education sector experience, both a plus
