Senior Operations Manager
Location: Noida (Work from Office – because real impact needs real collaboration)
Type: Full-Time
Company: Sustainiam
Experience Level: 7-10 Years (with 4–5 Years specifically in Carbon Credits/I-REC domain)
Reports To: CEO
Compensation: Best-in-class
About Sustainiam
At Sustainiam, we’re enabling the climate transition through data-backed, tech-enabled sustainability solutions. We work with enterprises to help them measure, reduce, and offset their carbon emissions with real-world impact. As a fast-growing climate tech company, we combine environmental expertise with sharp execution to drive results that matter.
About The Role
We are looking for a Senior Operations Manager to lead and scale our Carbon Credits and I-REC operations vertical. This role requires deep domain expertise, proven leadership experience, and a strong operational mindset.
As this role is highly specialized, prior hands-on experience in carbon markets, carbon credits, or I-REC operations is essential. If your background doesn’t align with this specific industry, this particular opportunity may not be the right fit at this time — but we’d still love to connect for future roles!
What You’ll Be Doing
Take end-to-end ownership of operations across carbon credit and I-REC programs
Lead and mentor the operations team, setting clear goals and enabling strong execution
Collaborate directly with company stakeholders to align strategy, delivery, and reporting
Develop and refine SOPs for project registration, issuance, verification, and retirement
Engage with registries, verifiers, and auditors to ensure compliance and smooth execution
Support sales and sustainability teams with client delivery and operational planning
Stay current on global standards, market trends, and methodology updates
Track KPIs, deliver regular reporting, and identify opportunities for process optimization
Contribute to scaling operational infrastructure and systems as the company grows
Who We’re Looking For
You’re a hands-on, detail-oriented operations leader with a strong background in environmental markets. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, lead with empathy and clarity, and bring structure to complexity.
Must-Have
8–9 years of overall experience, with at least 4–5 years in Carbon Credits, I-REC operations, or Environmental Commodities
Deep understanding of carbon project lifecycles, registries (Verra, Gold Standard, I-REC), and reporting protocols
Strong experience managing teams, building operational systems, and delivering client-facing projects
Excellent documentation, reporting, and stakeholder communication skills
Ability to independently manage multiple workstreams with a solutions-first mindset
Preferred
Exposure to importers, OEMs, financial institutions, or SEZ-based industries
Knowledge of international carbon standards and registry systems
Fluent in English and at least one local/regional language
Graduate or Postgraduate in Business, Environment, Energy, or related disciplines
What You’ll Gain
A leadership position in one of India’s most exciting climate tech companies
Direct collaboration with senior leadership on key strategic initiatives
The opportunity to drive climate impact through real-world carbon market mechanisms
High visibility and influence over the design and growth of a core vertical
A mission-driven, collaborative, and fast-moving team environment
