We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (PE) to serve as Engineer of Record and technical lead for commercial solar projects. This role is responsible for overseeing electrical designs, ensuring engineering excellence, and providing mentorship and guidance to a team of PV Designers. The Senior Electrical Engineer will collaborate cross-functionally with Project Development and Operations teams to deliver safe, efficient, and high-performing solar energy systems while supporting continuous improvement across design processes and tools.


Essential Job Functions & Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Engineer of Record for commercial solar PV projects

  • Lead and oversee electrical designs to ensure code compliance, safety, and optimal system performance

  • Enforce company safety programs in alignment with internal policies and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations

  • Support and improve internal design tools, standards, and workflows

  • Participate in conceptual and detailed system design for complex projects

  • Perform or oversee:

    • Load flow analysis

    • Arc flash studies

    • Thermal studies

  • Electrical modeling using ETAP or similar software

  • Review utility interconnection studies and coordinate with utility engineers

  • Provide technical mentorship and education to PV Designers and engineering team members

  • Support project close-out activities, including documentation review, binder compilation, and turnover coordination

  • Participate in project handoff and turnover processes

  • Conduct research to support continuous improvement and new technology deployment

  • Track punch list items and coordinate final resolution with subcontractors

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering

  • 5–7 years of experience designing complex electrical systems or large-scale projects

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to internal teams and customers

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and support engineering teams

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to remain composed and effective under pressure in fast-paced environments

  • Experience in solar PV or renewable energy systems preferred

  • Familiarity with utility interconnection requirements and processes preferred

  • Experience working in dynamically evolving organizations preferred

  • Salary Range: $125,000 – $160,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
