Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated National Safety Director to lead and manage the health, safety, and environmental (HSE) functions across our solar energy operations nationwide. This role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe work environment across residential, commercial, and new home site solar and storage projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the national HSE strategy aligned with corporate goals and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation of safety policies, programs, and training initiatives across all project sites and offices.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, NFPA 70E).
  • Conduct audits, risk assessments, and site inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Partner with project managers, construction leads, and field safety personnel to embed a safety-first culture.
  • Monitor safety performance metrics and lead incident investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Manage a national safety team, including hiring, training, and mentoring regional and site-level safety professionals.
  • Interface with clients, regulators, and third parties regarding safety matters.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on hazard reduction, behavior-based safety, and operational excellence.
  • Lead emergency response planning and crisis management initiatives.
  • Analyze safety performance data and present insights to executive leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive safety leadership experience in construction, renewable energy, or industrial environments.
  • Minimum 5 years in solar energy or renewable sector strongly preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), CHST, or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA 1926 and 1910 standards, NFPA, ANSI, and EPA regulations.
  • Proven experience managing multi-state safety programs and large field teams.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% nationwide.

Preferred Skills:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
  • Experience with residential solar and battery installations (PV, battery storage, MPUs, Energy Monitoring Systems).
