Summary of Role:

The New Homes – Regional Operations Manager role is to serve as the main point of contact to SunPower stakeholders for regional logistics with new product roll outs, escalated quality or safety concerns, and installation partner management. They are the subject matter expert related to all roofing and electrical aspects of solar photovoltaic installations and new home build cycles. Relationship management with home builder and sub-contractor management teams are critical to this role. The Field Manager Supervisor is also responsible for managing direct reports and motivating team members to achieve quarterly metrics.
This position involves managing production at the community and residential project (RP) levels, to include: ongoing meetings with Superintendents, a high volume of production schedule updates, ensuring bill of material accuracy, PV installation accuracy, new product roll outs and/or product transitions, troubleshooting of underperforming systems, and ensuring AHJ inspections of solar equipment are occurring on time.

Day-to-day responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing communities and residential projects, with a strong emphasis on monitoring of team dashboards, mentoring peers and coaching new hires, communicating, and updating Salesforce data in real time, and ensuring field based sub-contractor teams are working effectively and safely.

  • The ideal candidate for this role will reside in the Orlando, FL, Jacksonville, FL or Miami/Fort Lauderdale, FL area.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage production of direct reports and hold FMs accountable for performance
  • Host weekly 1:1 meetings with direct reports
  • Manage, distribute, and delegate workload amongst direct reports as needed
  • Use available software to develop dashboards, in order to help direct reports understand areas of focus
  • Attend community pre-construction kickoff meetings to set expectations with builder superintendent on solar installation process and SunPower requirements; work closely with all superintendent(s) to maintain relationships
  • Identify any elements of the community construction that may need extra attention and work directly with FM, design and installation partner teams to ensure all aspects of installation are represented in construction drawings and understood by installation teams
  • Work directly with SunPower field training teams to ensure FM team and installation partners are properly trained in all SunPower products
  • Expert in both residential roofing and electrical systems
  • Conduct multiple quality and safety audits each week
  • Work closely with SunPower management to train and performance manage IP’s to all SunPower related products and installation processes
  • Work directly with SunPower installation quality manager to improve feedback loops and continually make progress on issues in the field
  • Ability to troubleshoot and commission photovoltaic systems
  • Testing and troubleshooting of new products related to photovoltaic systems; including roofing, monitoring and electrical components
  • Troubleshoot roof leaks, thermal events, equipment failures
  • Work interdepartmentally to resolve field issues and provide world class customer service to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Use software tools available, in real time, to enter data “updates” directly into salesforce or provide information in a structured manner

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in residential construction or related trade(s) and photovoltaic installations
  • Proficient in the installation of roof penetrations, electrical circuits, solar modules, grid-tied and microinverter applications
  • Strong understanding of national electrical code, California building code, residential electrical and roofing systems
  • Ability to read construction drawings and electrical line diagrams
  • Excellent customer service skills in addition to solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Ability to travel between job sites
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • NFPA-70E Electrical Safety Certification
  • Fall protection certification
  • CPR certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in construction management or related field
  • NABCEP Installer certified

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to traverse/maneuver the job site for extended periods of time and survey/assess all aspects of the construction process
  • The position regularly works in outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, cold and freezing temperatures, and exposure to poisonous plants, insects, and allergens
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and have the ability to travel between warehouse and job sites
  • The environment of this position is a combination of both office and outside external, customer home and job sites
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use both hands, is frequently required to stand, sit, stoop, talk and hear (communicate verbally in person and via telephone), and be able to read computer screens, correspondence and report
  • The position requires travel with the potential of overnight stays between assigned facilities and various locations within the community (less than or equal to 10% travel)
  • At times the job may require weight to be lifted up to 50 pounds
  • The job requires the following types of vision: close, distance, peripheral and depth
  • Work in an office environment and sustain posture in a seated position for moderate periods of time
  • Hearing must be adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone
  • Able to communicate orally with management, co-workers, and the public in face to face, one on one and group settings
