About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and reliable Certified Electrical Contractor (CEC) to join our team in the Orlando area, specializing exclusively in commercial and industrial electrical projects. This role is ideal for a licensed professional who excels in large-scale installations, complex troubleshooting, project management, and strict adherence to commercial-grade codes and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and perform commercial electrical installations, including new construction, tenant improvements, remodels, and large-scale upgrades.
- Interpret complex blueprints, wiring diagrams, and specifications for multi-phase commercial projects.
- Ensure all electrical work strictly meets or exceeds the latest NEC (Article 700+), NFPA, and Florida Building Code standards for commercial occupancies.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair intricate electrical problems on high-voltage and specialized commercial systems.
- Install and upgrade main distribution panels, feeders, transformers, switchgear, and dedicated circuits for industrial equipment.
- Oversee entire job sites, manage commercial project workflow, coordinate all trade activities, and liaise directly with general contractors and commercial inspectors.
- Maintain meticulous documentation, including project logs, permitting records, and As-Built diagrams.
- Provide exceptional client service and professional representation on commercial job sites.
- Ensure a zero-incident work environment and strictly adhere to OSHA 10/30 and NEC standards.
- Accurately assist in estimating materials, labor, and project timelines for commercial bids.
- Supervise, train, and mentor apprentices or helpers working on commercial sites.
Qualifications
- Valid Florida Certified Electrical Contractor (CEC) License (mandatory)
- Minimum 5 years of experience predominantly focused on commercial, industrial, or institutional electrical work.
- Expert knowledge of NEC Articles relevant to commercial installations (e.g., hazardous locations, large feeders, standby power).
- Proven ability to manage multi-million-dollar projects independently from start to finish.
- Extensive experience with permitting and inspections for commercial projects in Central Florida (mandatory).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and work safely on lifts, scaffolding, and in high-clearance environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for professional client and GC interaction.
Preferred Skills (Commercial Focus)
- High-Voltage Distribution: Experience with 480V/277V systems, transformers, and switchgear.
- Commercial Lighting Systems: LED retrofits, dimming controls, and specialized architectural or exterior site lighting.
- Standby/Emergency Power: Generators, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS).
- Fire Alarm/Data/Access Control systems knowledge (low-voltage integration).
- Proficiency with commercial estimating software (e.g., Accubid, ConEst) and job costing.
