WHO ARE YOU?

With 35,000 employees on five continents, SUEZ is a world leader in intelligent and sustainable resource management. The Group offers water and waste management solutions that enable cities and industries to optimize the management of their resources and improve their environmental and economic performance. Within the Water Division, the Air & Climate team develops innovative solutions across the entire value chain: diagnosis, real-time monitoring, treatment and optimization to meet the major environmental challenges of the 21st century: air quality (air pollutants, odors) and the fight against global warming.

The Air Solutions Team, Through The Company ARIA Technologies Based In France, Develops, Designs, Installs And Operates Solutions For Industrial, Local Authority And Parapublic Customers, Including Governments, Especially In Developing Countries Its Multidisciplinary Activity Is Based On 4 Main Types Of Activities. In Air, These Are

  • Air quality diagnosis
  • Real-time air quality monitoring
  • Treatment solutions
  • Optimization of operational processes

While In Climate These Involve

  • Measurement (data processing and analysis)
  • Assessment – analysis, impact studies, mapping risk profiles
  • Design (devising adaptation/mitigation/resilience building strategies)
  • Piloting (implementing and testing solutions)

Aria Technologies specializes in numerical modeling of the atmospheric environment. As part of its activity on climate services, it uses and adapts modelling techniques and tools from major research centres to meet the climate services needs of its clients and partners.

As part of the development of our activity, we are looking for an expert in the twin fields of Geographic Information Systems and climate science.

VOTRE MISSION

You will play a key role in supporting climate adaptation, mitigation, and resilience projects through advanced spatial analysis, modeling, and visualization and the processing of climate science. The position involves applying Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing techniques to analyze climate data, assess environmental risks, and develop spatial decision-support tools. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams—climate scientists, hydrologists, environmental planners, and policy specialists—to provide data-driven insights that inform sustainable solutions and policy recommendations.

Your mission

The position to be filled is part of the activities of SUEZ ARIA Air and Climate division and, more specifically, in the development of the climate services activity to support its clients in climate change mitigation and adaptation actions. This activity is based on the analysis and mapping of climatic hazards and their impacts as well as the carrying out of vulnerability and adaptation studies to climate change. On these subjects, the institutional team generally works on behalf of major clients such as the World Bank, the United Nations and the French Agency for Development. In addition to the intellectual services that buttress this support, the team develops and implements digital solutions such as measurement of climate to date and modeled projections, early warning systems, weather forecasting platforms, visualization tools and the provision of climate and meteorological information.

GIS - Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and analyze geospatial datasets related to climate variables, environmental indicators, and socio-economic data.
  • Support climate risk assessments through spatial modeling, mapping, and visualization.
  • Design and implement GIS-based workflows for climate impact, adaptation, and mitigation projects.
  • Integrate climate models (e.g., downscaled GCMs/RCMs) with geospatial data for scenario analysis and decision support.
  • Prepare high-quality maps, dashboards, and spatial analytics to communicate results to clients and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (climate scientists, hydrologists, policy analysts, etc.) to deliver integrated climate solutions.
  • Maintain and update geospatial databases and ensure data quality, metadata, and version control.
  • Support proposal writing and contribute GIS components to technical reports and presentations.
  • Stay updated with emerging GIS and remote sensing technologies, tools, and open-data platforms relevant to climate science.

Climate Science – Key Responsibilities

  • Participation in climate change vulnerability analysis, particularly, though not exclusively, in developing countries, including the study of climatic hazards, their impacts on different sectors (water, agriculture, infrastructure, health, etc.), the prioritization of risks and the definition of adaptation solutions. This type of project incorporates many activities including but not limited to:
  • Responding to customer needs and defining the project implementation framework; The organization or realization of research and analysis dedicated to the collection of data and information, sometimes involving field work;
  • Definition and adaptation of vulnerability analysis and assessment methods according to the project implementation framework;
  • Creating and analysing climate databases (statistical downscaling, correction of data biases, combination of observation and model data, uncertainty analysis, etc.), hazard mapping, development of simple impact models, etc;
  • The diagnosis and proposal of solutions dedicated to the strengthening of hydrometeorological and climate services;
  • The organization or realization of workshops and training at different levels and for different audiences;
  • Communication of results to decision-makers and other non-expert audiences (summary for decision-makers, news briefs, capitalization reports, etc.); Working in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.

Combined Responsibilities

  • The development and implementation of projects based on forecasting at the sub-seasonal and seasonal scales, particularly in the fields of agriculture, energy and transport. It is also a question of participating in the development of commercial offers and the products to meet them. To do this, you will be required to:
  • Work with the sales teams on understanding customer needs and defining viable solutions;
  • Develop sustainable solutions based on existing products of sub-seasonal and seasonal forecasts as well as their improvement for scales and sectors of interest via statistical approaches (methods of analogs, downscaling, correction, etc.);
  • Provide a technological watch on sub-seasonal/seasonal forecasting and its applications in the above-mentioned fields;
  • Assist in the preparation of the technical components of commercial proposals;
  • Engage in the promotion of the products developed and the studies carried out during forums and other types of events.
