Environment Lead
Experience: 14-17 Years
Job Purpose (Summary / One–Line Description)
Provide strategic leadership and governance for the Environment function across the sites in Maharashtra ensuring regulatory compliance, sustainability excellence, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement aligned with organizational ESG and business objectives.
Duties / Responsibilities / Activities
Environmental Strategy & Governance
Define and drive the overall environmental strategy aligned with business growth, sustainability commitments, and regulatory requirements.Establish governance frameworks, policies, and standards for environmental management across operations.Ensure robust systems are in place for effective environmental risk identification, mitigation, and performance management.Act as the key authority and decision-maker for all environment-related matters.
Regulatory Compliance & External Liaison
Ensure 100% compliance with all applicable environmental laws, statutory norms, and regulatory approvals.Lead interactions with Pollution Control Boards, regulatory authorities, and government bodies.Oversee timely submission of statutory reports, renewals, consents, and compliance documentation.Anticipate regulatory changes and proactively align internal systems and processes.
Environmental Performance & Sustainability
Drive monitoring and improvement of key environmental parameters including air emissions, effluent management, water stewardship, waste management, and resource efficiency.Establish KPIs and review environmental performance with leadership teams.Lead sustainability initiatives aimed at carbon footprint reduction, circular economy practices, and responsible resource utilization.Champion projects related to pollution prevention, waste minimization, and solvent recovery optimization.
Continuous Improvement & Operational Integration
Integrate environmental best practices into manufacturing, projects, and engineering functions.Drive cross-functional collaboration to embed environmental excellence into business processes.Lead root cause analysis for environmental incidents and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions.Promote innovation in environmental technologies and sustainable practices.
Stakeholder Engagement & Capability Building
Develop a strong environmental awareness culture across the organization.Guide training programs for employees and contractors on environmental compliance and sustainability practices.Engage with external stakeholders including vendors, auditors, industry bodies, and sustainability partners.Represent the organization in industry forums and sustainability platforms where required.
Vendor & Partner Governance
Approve and oversee selection of vendors related to waste management, recycling, and environmental services.Ensure vendor compliance with environmental and sustainability standards.Drive strategic partnerships to enhance circularity and environmental performance.
IMS & Audit Leadership
Provide leadership oversight for IMS (Integrated Management Systems) related to Environment.Ensure readiness for internal, external, and statutory audits.Drive closure of audit observations and strengthen system maturity.
Workplace Safety & ESG Alignment
Ensure environmental risk controls are integrated with overall safety systems.Contribute strategically to ESG roadmap, disclosures, sustainability reporting, and environmental performance benchmarking.Drive resource conservation initiatives including energy efficiency, water reduction, and waste minimization.
