About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced technical and commercial deployment expert in long duration energy storage systems (LDES). The contractor will assess the technical feasibility, deployment challenges, and go-to-market readiness of our innovative LDES technology, drawing from extensive hands-on experience in system implementation, technical pre-sales, and solution integration within the energy sector.
This role is ideal for a seasoned CTO, pre-sales lead, or deployment leader with deep understanding of LDES technologies and market applications, looking to engage with innovative energy storage ventures at the intersection of technology, business, and sustainability.
Following the initial project, there is an opportunity for an ongoing role as technology advisor or full-time technology lead across multiple energy storage ventures in our portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
● Evaluate the technical design, feasibility, and scalability of proposed LDES solution
● Review system architecture, integration requirements, and deployment pathways
● Identify potential risks, constraints, and optimization opportunities
● Assess product engineering and industrialization proposals (TRL-based)
● Advise on market dynamics and regulatory implications, and provide deployment insights across utility, commercial and industrial (C&I) markets
● Offer guidance on technical partnerships, supply chain, and technology sourcing strategies
● Contribute to defining implementation roadmaps and pilot project frameworks
● Support potential pre-sales and client engagement strategies for LDES deployment
Who You Are (Background & Expertise)
● 10+ years of experience in energy storage/LDES solution engineering and packaging, or technical pre-sales
● Record of designing and deploying (including POCs or pilots) energy storage systems (electrochemical, mechanical, thermal, or hybrid). Flow battery system is a plus
● Experience in project design, technical feasibility studies, and client-facing technical sales
● Understanding of energy infrastructure economics and grid integration across multiple regions (in particular Europe and North America)
● Strong knowledge of LDES ecosystem and competitive landscape, in the context of renewable energy production, transmission and distribution, IPPs, commercial and industrial use cases.
Skills & Competencies
● Strong ability to translate technical performance into commercial value
● Deep familiarity with deployment and commissioning processes in energy systems
● Excellent communication and advisory skills, capable of working with founders and investors
● Analytical mindset with ability to identify risks and opportunities across the value chain
Languages
● Full professional proficiency in English
● Italian and/or another European language is a plus
