Museum Technician - Florissant Fossil Beds National Museum Intern

Position Summary

This position will provide management and protection for natural and cultural museum collections by providing the following: 1) organize and stabilize collections; 2) document a complete collections inventory; 3) physically move all museum supplies, equipment, and collections; and 4) archive materials for administrative records.

Schedule

01/12/2025 - 04/20/2025

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Organize collections into their new arrangement; Develop and assemble ~11,000 new specimen labels; Complete a 100% inventory of museum collections; Update museum database; Physically move all museum supplies, equipment, and collections

Marginal Duties

Develop social media content about project; Archive project documentation and other materials for administrative records

Required Qualifications

Degree in Biology or Earth Sciences Meticulous and precise Ability to follow instruction, work independently and in a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in collections, data entry, databases, social media, writing/publishing

Hours

40 per week

Living Accommodations

No housing is provided. Personal vehicle is required for transportation to and from the Park.

Compensation

• Living allowance (stipend) - $700/week
• Time off for all government holidays, plus earned leave per pay period.

All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
