The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is the largest provider of hands-on environmental conservation programs for youth and young adults. Program participants protect and restore national parks, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks, and community green spaces across the country.

Program Description:
This position will serve as a natural resource generalist with regards to forest management and natural resource projects. Personnel will be required to work in the field on a variety of tasks, such as Wild fire assessment and fuel loading analysis, hand removal of invasive plants, timber inventory, forest stand surveys and prescriptions, vegetation surveys, including species identification and determination of plant associations, and mapping, tree and shrub planting, wetland delineation and mapping, field layout of project boundaries, invasive species management and mapping, data entry and analysis, collection and analysis of GIS and GPS data and associated mapping, review and or write survey and monitoring reports, presentations, attendance at project related to meetings and trainings, review and prepare project Health and Safety plans and attend safety related meeting. The incumbent will be required to work as a member of a team and, occasionally, be required to lead a team in tasks. Some familiarity with natural resources, GIS and forest management is needed. Other multifunctional work may be performed, as assigned. The incumbent must be willing to use personal protective equipment and be willing to drive own vehicle with mileage reimbursement. Security and safety compliance will be required. Incumbent may be required to attend training.

Naval Facilities Engineering Command Northwest in Silverdale, WA

Member Qualifications:
  • Driver's license
  • Personal vehicle is REQUIRED.
  • Willingness to work independently and with a team.
  • Interest or practical experience in Forestry, Biology, Botany desired.
