Position Summary
Spend your summer in Maryland, playing a vital role at Naval Air Station Patuxent River as a Large Mammal Survey Intern. You would perform crucial tasks in support of our mission.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct evening surveys for deer and other mammals, 40%; Conduct surveys for state and federal listed butterfly species, 25 35% Conduct acoustic bat surveys 15%;
Marginal Duties
Conduct habitat management for state and federal listed species, 10%; Conduct recreational fishing surveys, 5%; Assist with environmental education outreach, 5%.
Required Qualifications
Driver License required; Personal vehicle recommended for commuting; Minimum of 2 years of college in a related to wildlife management/biology, natural resources or other biological sciences; experience in habitat survey.
Preferred Qualifications
Ideal candidate can work with minimal supervision in areas with poisonous plants and animals, allergens, temperature extremes, and inclement weather, Minimum of 2 years of college in a related to wildlife management/biology, natural resources or other biological sciences; experience in habitat survey. Schedule: A Monday-Friday, 40 hour/week schedule is expected. Some night and evening survey work will be required. Local candidates are preferred due to lack of housing; however, non-local candidates will be considered if they can find their own housing.

Compensation
Weekly living allowance: $350; One-time travel allowance: $1100; Eligible for a 450-hour AmeriCorps education award worth $1,956.35, upon successful completion of service; Public Land Credits are available upon successful completion of this term for members ages 18-30.
All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
