Position Summary
This engineering intern will lead the effort for the Bakersfield Recreation department by designing technical drawings/schematics for developments in recreation areas including: Foot Bridges, large culvert placements, retaining walls, etc.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
This engineering intern will lead the effort for the Bakersfield Recreation department by designing technical drawings/schematics for developments in recreation areas including: Foot Bridges, large culvert placements, retaining walls, etc. This would result in tangible infrastructure improvements by adding to the safety and usability of Public Lands. Additionally, the incumbent will collaborate with multiple partners and internal stakeholders to conduct condition assessments and provide updates the Federal Asset Management System (FAMS). The incumbent will face complex issues requiring problem solving skills and independent thinking.

Required Qualifications
Applicants must be studying or have a degree in engineering, civil engineering, or mechanical engineering.
Hours
40 per week
Living Accommodations
Hosing will be rented by SCA at no cost to the intern.
Compensation
Living Allowance: $480/week
Travel Allowance: $1,100 (personal vehicle required)
Americorps Education Award: $1,459 upon completion of no less that 300 hours of service
All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
