Internship - Biodiversity & Endangered species at I.N.F.O
Position Summary
We are filling this intern position at the Indiana Ecological Services Field Office (INFO), located in Bloomington, IN. INFO works across the state of Indiana to further the conservation and recovery of federally listed species, including plants, bats, mussels, and pollinators. This position will work with senior biologists to support the office's conservation and recovery efforts by implementing tasks related to the Endangered Species Act. Tasks would include assessing impacts of proposed actions and projects on threatened and endangered species, conducting fish and wildlife surveys, implementing habitat improvement projects, and supporting GIS and data management and analyses.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Endangered Species Planning and Coordination (Percentage of time: 60%) Performs data analyses, prepares objective and complete written reports and other technical documents, and reviews project plans and evaluates impacts to trust resources under Section 7 and 10 of the Endangered Species Act. Maintains records of accomplishments and provides accomplishment reports as required by supervisors. Obtains, reviews, and evaluates reports, data, scientific literature, and other sources of information.
Marginal Duties
Administrative (Percentage of time: 20%) Other miscellaneous office responsibilities include administrative duties, data entry and management, and basic reporting. Station duties may include equipment maintenance and assistance with activities associated with the office. Field Investigations (Percentage of time: 15%) Participates in imperiled species habitat improvement projects or surveys. Interacts with conservation partners on their imperiled wildlife and plant survey efforts (e.g., mussel, bats, butterflies and other pollinators, etc.). Serve with conservation partners on endangered species habitat improvement projects (e.g., controlling invasive plants, collecting native plant seeds, etc.). Laboratory/office/station duties (Percentage of time: 5%) Laboratory work may include processing samples from field work and working with various laboratory equipment.
Required Qualifications
Valid driver's license. Some experience with writing reports, data analysis, GIS, field research. This SCA Position is authorized under the Public Land Corps Authority. All participants must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans aged 35 or younger, at the start of the position. Participants must also be a citizen or national of the United States or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States. Hours served can be applied toward the Public Land Corps (PLC) hiring authority.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified first-aid/CPR/AED; experience working in a professional setting.

Living Accommodations
No housing will be provided. Successful applicant will need to find housing independently.
Compensation
$650/week living allowance
$1,100 to/from travel allowance, paid once with first paycheck
Health Insurance
All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
