Position Summary

You will be part of a multi-person burn crew, working on Wildlife Management Area conservation projects through southeast Georgia. Top priorities are activities associated with prescribed burning, including firebreak construction, fuel reduction, burn operations, and monitoring.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Top priorities are activities associated with: prescribed burning including firebreak construction, fuel reduction, burn operations, and monitoring. longleaf pine forest improvements, including tree planting and invasive species removal.


Marginal Duties

involvement in habitat enhancement for game species, exotic and invasive species management, native species plantings, basic land management activities, and assisting in species recovery. position will focus on coastal lands, with opportunities to assist on projects state-wide.


Required Qualifications

Must be 18+ years of age. Candidates not currently Red Card certified will be required to completed approximately 47 hours of National Wildfire Coordination Group online training PRIOR to beginning their internship. Interns will be required to go through additional training (including course work, exam, and Arduous Pack Test) immediately upon the start of the program.


Preferred Qualifications

Red Card certification is preferred but not required to apply. Vehicle for personal use is not required, but is recommended.

40 per week


Living Accommodations

Shared housing is provided.


Compensation

Living allowance: $500 per week One time relocation travel: $650 Up to $250 reimbursement for boots

All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
