We are currently recruiting for a Nuclear Estimator to join our team in Charlotte, NC in a hybrid capacity. As an Estimator for STRUCTURAL, you will be responsible for estimating complex Investigate-Design-Build, self-performed, construction projects that make our nation’s structures stronger and last longer. Projects typically consist of concrete repair, cathodic protection systems, carbon fiber application, soil stabilization, large diameter pipe rehabilitation, waterproofing, structural strengthening, and leverage in house investigative and design services at the project onset. STRUCTURAL’s Nuclear Division has a mission to extend the service life of the nation’s largest source of clean, carbon-free energy. Our team features a multitude of positions in various geographic regions collaborating effectively through travel, video conferences, and collocating on project sites. The Nuclear Division has responsibility for all 50 states. Our Nuclear Division is recognized as an industry leader in developing technical and innovative repair solutions for both safety-related and non-safety-related projects under both our own and our partners NQA-1 Appendix B programs. We focus on all manner of significant infrastructure in the nuclear fleet including large hyperbolic cooling towers, underwater intake structures and even the reactor containment building. Collaborating to develop the strategy and solution for each unique project including investigative and engineering phases as well as procurement and construction. Preparing estimates by calculating various statistical data such as quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs per man-hour, equipment costs and applying to complete scope of work Defining and quantifying scope of work and preparing comprehensive conceptual, budgetary, and construction cost estimates for projects Reviewing / researching historical data and compiling summary reports to develop guidelines and precedence for future estimates Maintaining involvement in uncovering sales opportunities with prospective and existing customers Candidates who meet the following criteria may be considered for this exciting position based in our large Operations division: ~ Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management (desired not required) ~3-12 years of construction estimating experience, ideally in a related industry involving concrete repair projects ~ Demonstrated ability to work with a team to estimate projects of moderate complexity up to $10 Million ~ Prior experience to estimate up to 5 projects directly and up to 5 estimates indirectly as a mentor ~ A strong understanding of the greater Chicagoland / Upper Midwest Industrial construction market, including current market prices and clients (i.e.: engineers, architects, property managers and owners) ~ Demonstrated construction math and computer skills including Microsoft Excel and / or construction estimating software. Ability to work within the Protected Area (PA) of Nuclear Plants with unescorted access. ~ Possess the ability to pass all training and background requirements for Nuclear Plant access. ~ Ability for short term travel every other week on average.
