Junior Permitting Expert

General Summary:

StreamTec Solutions is an independent engineering and project management consultancy supporting large-scale offshore energy infrastructure projects across Europe. Our work includes offshore hydrogen pipelines, carbon transport systems, cable projects and other energy transition projects.

 

The Junior Permitting Expert supports permit applications, environmental impact assessments and authority submissions for offshore and onshore energy and telecommunication projects. The role also supports permit compliance during the entire project lifecycle. Work is carried out under the guidance of a senior permitting expert. Much of the current portfolio follows German permitting procedures and comparable regimes around the North Sea and Baltic Sea.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Support and coordinate the preparation of permit applications and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA / UVP) documentation
  • Compile and quality-check technical and environmental input from engineering, survey, environmental and stakeholder management teams, including maps, drawings and GIS data
  • Maintain permitting schedules, action trackers, document registers and the permit register, including tracking of permit conditions
  • Support communication with authorities, consultants and other stakeholders, including public participation steps and transboundary consultations under the Espoo Convention
  • Check technical reports and environmental studies for completeness and consistency
  • Participate in project meetings and prepare meeting minutes and follow-up actions
  • Support the coordination of external consultants and specialist subcontractors
  • Support routing and feasibility studies with permitting and environmental constraints input
  • Report progress and status to the Line Manager or Project Lead

Qualifications, Experiences and Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Marine Science, Geography or a similar technical discipline, preferably with some experience or courses in Project Management
  • Up to three years of relevant professional experience, recent graduates welcome
  • Basic understanding of environmental and planning approval procedures in at least one European jurisdiction
  • Ability to understand and work with technical engineering documentation and environmental assessments
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Fluent in German (authority language) and English (project language), any other
  • European language is an asset
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Team-oriented and pragmatic approach
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work in an international and deadline-driven project environment
  • Willingness to travel within Europe
  • Discretion and sensitivity in dealing with authorities and stakeholders
  • Eligibility to work in Switzerland

Desirable Experience:

  • Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Natura 2000 / FFH assessments
  • Permitting or regulatory compliance, ideally German consenting procedures (Planfeststellung, Plangenehmigung etc.)
  • Offshore energy, pipelines, transmission infrastructure, cable or marine projects
  • Environmental studies, technical documentation or GIS
  • Working within or with public authorities, consultants or engineering contractors

Working Conditions:

Permanent position, 100%. Main office in Zug; hybrid working by agreement. Regular travel within Europe, typically a few days per month.
