Working in Portfolio Management team PPAs

Due to exciting growth, we are now searching for a (Senior) Quantitative Portfolio Manager to join our Global Environmental Markets (GEM) department, which is the centre of expertise for both environmental certificate markets across the Statkraft Group and for PPAs of renewable energy in Poland and The Netherlands.

One of the best in class, our Portfolio Management team have been highly successful in managing the PPA and certificate portfolios and is looking to expand.

The team is versatile, and team members contribute to many different activities. Over time, business needs as well as individual interests and competencies will naturally lead to development in specific areas or markets (Netherlands or Poland).

We are open to candidates with different levels of experience with a strong quantitative background who can contribute the most to the growth of our business and best fits our versatile team.

Job Description

The key aspects of the Portfolio Management role in Statkraft are to:

  • Provide analytical support with the scaling up of our portfolio of non-standard power contracts in the Dutch (and/or Polish) electricity market, with a focus on long-term contracts (PPAs) and working effectively to optimize the value of the portfolio
  • Operate and drive the improvement of modelling tools and our hedging and optimisation approach, actively shaping the setup of state-of-the-art portfolio management infrastructure and procedures
  • Support the execution of trading strategies, including hedging and optimisation strategies
  • Proactively manage the data and information flow and implement routines with main stakeholders by engaging yourself in in-depth discussions with fellow portfolio managers/analysts, originators, internal and external analysts and developers
  • Work in close collaboration with our deal originators for structuring and pricing
  • Liaise closely with the risk department on P&L and risk reporting
  • Support back-office and IT departments when implementing new systems and procedures.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • High level of numeracy gained, for example, through a university degree in a numerical discipline, e.g., mathematics, economics, engineering, science or statistics
  • Proven analytical capability in a quantitative domain, including the use of advanced analytical tools
  • Strong commercial mindset and high level of initiative and motivation
  • Quick and eager to learn about new markets and topics
  • Reliable team player with excellent communication skills in English

Desired:

  • Understanding of European power (or other energy) markets and risk management. Understanding of the Dutch and/or Polish market.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills; know-how in pricing of structured, non-standard contracts in power or other energy markets combined with valuation and modelling skills
  • Ability to perform commercially-oriented analysis of regulations pertaining to the energy markets
  • Programming skills ideally in Python, SQL, and/or similar languages, ideally with experience in quantitative packages
  • Knowledge of financial derivatives including futures, forwards, options
  • Flexible, accurate, with the capability to further develop the business
  • Some years of experience working in the above setting.
