1. Job Purpose


The Project Manager – Operations will be responsible for end-to-end execution and successful completion of solar EPC projects, ensuring that projects are delivered within agreed timelines, approved budgets, quality standards and safety requirements.


The role will act as the central coordination point between management, engineering, procurement, site teams, subcontractors, vendors and customers.


1. Key Responsibilities


A. Project Planning & Execution


* Take complete ownership of assigned solar projects from project handover to commissioning and closure.

* Prepare project execution plans, schedules and milestone trackers.

* Plan manpower, materials, equipment and subcontractor requirements.

* Ensure project activities are executed as per approved drawings, BOQ, specifications and timelines.

* Monitor daily/weekly progress against planned targets.

* Identify project delays and implement corrective actions.


B. Site Operations


* Supervise and coordinate site engineers, supervisors, technicians and subcontractors.

* Ensure proper execution of:

* Module installation

* MMS/structure installation

* DC works

* AC works

* Inverter installation

* Earthing & lightning protection

* Cable laying & termination

* LT/HT works

* Transformer/HT panel works

* SCADA/monitoring systems

* Testing & commissioning

* Conduct regular site inspections and resolve execution issues.


C. Manpower & Subcontractor Management


* Allocate manpower according to project requirements.

* Monitor productivity and utilization of manpower.

* Manage subcontractors and ensure compliance with agreed scope, rates and timelines.

* Verify subcontractor work measurements before certification/payment.

* Take corrective action against poor-performing subcontractors.


D. Material & Procurement Coordination


* Coordinate with procurement/stores teams for timely availability of project materials.

* Prepare material requirement schedules based on project execution plans.

* Monitor material consumption and wastage.

* Ensure proper material receiving, storage and utilization at site.

* Prevent material losses, damages and unauthorized usage.


E. Project Cost Control


* Monitor project execution against approved budget/BOQ.

* Control manpower, logistics, subcontracting and miscellaneous site expenses.

* Identify cost overruns and report them to management.

* Minimize material wastage and rework.

* Track project profitability and contribute towards maintaining targeted project margins.


F. Quality Control


* Ensure execution as per approved drawings, specifications and applicable standards.

* Coordinate with QA/QC team for inspections and testing.

* Ensure proper documentation of inspections and test reports.

* Identify and eliminate recurring quality issues.

* Ensure all punch points are closed before project handover.


G. Safety


* Ensure strict compliance with site safety procedures.

* Conduct/participate in toolbox meetings and safety inspections.

* Ensure PPE usage and safe working practices.

* Immediately address unsafe conditions and incidents.

* Coordinate with HSE personnel for corrective actions.


H. Customer & Stakeholder Coordination


* Act as the primary operational contact for customers during project execution.

* Attend project review meetings.

* Communicate project progress, challenges and recovery plans.

* Coordinate shutdowns, inspections, testing and commissioning with customers.

* Maintain professional relationships while protecting company interests.


I. Testing, Commissioning & Handover


* Coordinate pre-commissioning checks and testing.

* Ensure successful synchronization and commissioning of the solar plant.

* Coordinate with DISCOM/utility/customer wherever required.

* Ensure completion of punch-list items.

* Prepare and submit project completion documentation.

* Ensure smooth handover to O&M/AMC team.


1. Project MIS & Reporting


The Project Manager will be responsible for maintaining:


* Daily Progress Report (DPR)

* Weekly Project Progress Report

* Project Milestone Tracker

* Material Requirement & Consumption Report

* Manpower Deployment Report

* Subcontractor Performance Report

* Project Cost/Expense Tracker

* Quality Inspection Reports

* Safety Reports

* Project Risk & Issue Register

* Punch Point Tracker

* Commissioning & Handover Documents


Required Skills


* Strong project management and execution skills.

* Good understanding of solar EPC projects.

* Knowledge of electrical and civil works.

* Manpower and subcontractor management.

* Planning and scheduling.

* Cost control.

* Problem-solving and decision-making.

* Customer handling.

* MS Excel / Google Sheets.

* AutoCAD knowledge will be an advantage.

* Understanding of project documentation and MIS.


Educational Qualification


Preferred:


* B.Tech/B.E./Diploma in Electrical, Civil or related engineering discipline.

* 3-5 years of relevant experience in Solar EPC / Electrical EPC / Renewable Energy projects.
