Now Brewing – global responsibility lead! #tobeapartner

From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.

Driven by our mission, we work together to create a positive impact in the world. Sustainability is at the core of what we do for people, the planet, and our business. We are seeking a strategic leader to drive our enterprise climate strategy, advising senior leadership on climate-related risks, opportunities, and decisions. The successful candidate will be the senior climate expert in the organization and will lead cross-functional integration of climate and nature considerations into business planning, risk management, and capital allocation, while developing net-zero pathways and nature-based solutions. The position also represents Starbucks externally, advancing climate goals through partnerships, coalitions, and policy engagement, with a focus on eliminating deforestation and aligning with evolving nature-related frameworks.

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Advise Starbucks leadership on climate-related risks, opportunities, and strategic decisions.
  • Lead the development and refinement of the corporate climate strategy, including net-zero pathways, climate resilience, and nature-based solutions.
  • Integrate climate strategy into enterprise-wide planning, risk management, and capital allocation processes.
  • Monitor and respond to emerging climate policy, market trends, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Drive teams across sustainability, operations, finance, legal, and public affairs to embed climate considerations into core business functions aligned to an enterprise climate action plan.
  • Ensure strategy is informed by robust impact measurement and scenario modeling.
  • Represent Starbucks in climate-related coalitions, industry groups, and policy forums.
  • Build and advance strategic partnerships with NGOs, academic institutions, and government agencies to support climate and nature goals.
  • Monitor and integrate evolving nature-related frameworks, goals, and interventions into climate strategy.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and cross-functional leadership on Forest, Land & Agriculture (FLAG) emissions reduction pathways, with a focus on eliminating deforestation and conversion.

We’d Love To Hear From People With

  • 10+ years of experience in climate strategy, sustainability, environmental policy, or related fields.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing senior leadership.
  • Deep understanding of climate science, policy, and market dynamics.
  • Experience with net-zero strategy development, nature-based solutions, and climate risk integration.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including external representation.

  • Advanced degree in environmental science, sustainability, public policy, or related discipline preferred.
