Your Opportunity
Our Buildings Team in our Winnipeg office is looking for a full-time Mechanical & Electrical Commissioning Consultant. In this role, you will work as part of an integrated and multidiscipline team that delivers complex projects in Manitoba. You will be responsible to bridge the gap between the design team and construction team, provide constructability and maintainability review of designs in progress, provide technical oversight during construction relative to the contract documents, and undertake field commissioning activities.
Your Key Responsibilities
Graduate of a Mechanical Engineering or Technology program or minimum 10 years of mechanical trades or contract administration experience.
Certified Technicians & Technologists Association of Manitoba (CTTAM) Designation is considered an asset.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may require travel and include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Our Buildings Team in our Winnipeg office is looking for a full-time Mechanical & Electrical Commissioning Consultant. Your Key Responsibilities
- Working alongside our design team to help shape and refine typical systems used on our projects, with a focus on quality and maintenance considerations.
- Conducting constructability reviews of design packages, allowing you to provide valuable feedback to our design team on constructability and system function, leveraging your installation and commissioning experience.
- Reviewing our current control strategies and schematics for a variety of systems such as heat pumps, boiler plants, and air handling systems, to ensure both functionality and long-term reliability - especially in remote locations.
- Participating in contract administration activities with our CA team, including reviewing shop drawings, conducting field reviews, assessing alternate solutions from contractors, and helping resolve design issues that arise during construction.
- Engaging with our broader commissioning team to assist with commissioning activities including both static and functional testing.
- Witnessing startup acceptance tests for major equipment on site.
- Conducting existing building condition assessments and making recommendations for upgrades to meet current codes and modern design standards.
- Acting as a liaison among our mechanical, electrical, and industrial design teams to ensure consistency and coordination across various projects.
- Facilitating the integration of lessons learned during construction phases into our design standards and details, with the aim of reducing errors and omissions in future projects.
- Assisting our team in successfully incorporating ground source heat pump systems and technologies into our projects efficiently and reliably.
- Working with Stantec teams across multiple offices, with a particular emphasis on collaboration within western Canada.
- Experience with installation and commissioning of HVAC systems.
- Experience with on-site inspection principles, practices, and techniques.
- Experience in working with Construction Site Representatives and Contractors.
- Ability to work with others on large complex projects.
- A thorough knowledge of construction methods, procedures, and practices.
- Mechanical experience encompassing both office and field environments.
- Knowledge of relevant engineering, pertinent legislation, standards, and scheduling practices/methods.
- Sound judgment, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated organizational, administrative, and decision-making skills required to effectively handle changing priorities and project deadlines.
- Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
- A good working knowledge of personal computers and applications relevant to the work (word processing, spreadsheets, mobile apps).
- Experience with document control platforms such as Newforma is a plus.
- A valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License and access to a vehicle for site visits.
