Stantec’s Water team in New Zealand has an impressive portfolio of successful projects that benefit communities nationwide and beyond, with significant contributions to international work. Our water focus covers the management of drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and groundwater as a collective resource. Dams and hydropower are a key focus, driving resilience and renewable energy solutions. Tackling our water challenges is crucial, and our diverse local network includes over 360 water specialists dedicated to innovation
Our Contracts Managers provide our team and clients with the assurance of delivery through one of the most critical phases of project delivery. This role requires a deep understanding of procurement and construction phases, with efforts expected to support our clients in the engagement and management of physical works contractors.

Our Contracts Managers provide our team and clients with the assurance of delivery through one of the most critical phases of project delivery. This role requires a deep understanding of procurement and construction phases, with efforts expected to support our clients in the engagement and management of physical works contractors.
Day to day tasks include, but are not limited to
- Coordinate and support the delivery of water, wastewater and stormwater projects, including management of scope, schedule, budget, quality and risk.
- Undertake site inspections, field investigations, feasibility assessments and constructability reviews to support project delivery.
- Prepare and review project documentation, including cost estimates, tender documentation, contract administration records and project reports.
- Assist with tender evaluations and provide support during procurement and construction phases.
- Monitor project financial performance, including tracking, forecasting and reporting of construction activities.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships through effective communication with clients, contractors, regulatory authorities, project stakeholders and internal teams to support successful project outcomes.
- Identify and help resolve technical and project delivery issues, working collaboratively with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
- Support and share knowledge with junior team members to contribute to their professional development.
- Ensure project meetings, actions, records and documentation are maintained in accordance with project and client requirements.
- Deliver work in accordance with company quality, health, safety and environmental requirements, while proactively managing project risks.
- Undertake other duties as reasonably required.
- Relevant technical tertiary qualification
- 10 years'relevant professional experience including NZS39XX contracts.
- Solid cost estimating, tender preparation and report writing skills.
- Will have clear and consistent communication to build trust and provide support to peers and clients
- Co-ordination/management of sub-contractors, site supervisors and suppliers.
