Our collaborative culture and our innovative, sustainable approach to projects help us create buildings that matter to our world.Together, we are enhancing the quality of life globally through design.Join us and design your place with Stantec.Your OpportunityWe are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to help lead exciting and complex projects to join our DC office.Your Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and prepare schematic design, design development, and construction documentsDesign mechanical systems including heating, cooling, heat rejection, air distribution, ventilation, air conditioning, building automation and controlsIncorporate sustainable design methods in buildings and prepare green rating system documentationAssist in spatial coordination with architecture and other engineering systemsDeliver projects across multiple delivery models, including design/bid/build, design assist, design buildProcess contractor submittals, RFIsPerform on site condition surveysProduce quality workProvide mentoring and direction to junior members of the project team or engineering disciplineUse technology and methodologies to create innovative approaches to building designConsistently strive to improve technical quality of work product by keeping abreast of new technologies, changes in building codes, and advances in the industryWork collaboratively in a cross-discipline environment to produce integrated project documents, and insure integrated design approaches & solutionsAssist in the procurement of high-quality work; including marketing / proposal efforts and project interviewsManage multi-disciplinary teams on projects related to Government, Healthcare, Higher Education and Science & TechnologyMaintain strong client relations as it pertains to project delivery and repeat businessPerform and maintain thorough QA/QC on all phases of projectsParticipates in recruiting efforts across the firmYour Capabilities and CredentialsLEED AP BD+C preferredEvidence of public recognition of expertise preferred (e.g. articles, conference papers, ASHRAE committee membership, or speaking engagements)Familiarity with BIMMaintain technical competence by staying current on appropriate codes and technologiesProficient in the use of state-of-the-art tools for engineering design and documentation, including RevitThorough understanding of the engineering systems within a specific disciplineThorough understanding of advanced engineering principles and calculationsGeneral understanding of engineering principles and systems within other disciplinesMonitors & manages project budgets to ensure cost effective deliveryExpertise in area of concentrationEffective communication skills (written and oral).Demonstrated thoroughness in design coordination and contract document development in area of concentrationDemonstrated record of consistent quality workAble to work with little or no supervisionAbility to lead others and foster teamworkBusiness development capabilities, commercial/financial awarenessProject management and supervisor experience preferredDemonstrated knowledge in sustainable building designEducation and ExperienceProfessional Degree in Engineering required from an accredited four-year universityP.E. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave.
