Your Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities

As a summer intern, you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support the preparation of environmental and planning-related documents and analyses. Under the guidance and mentorship of experienced team members, responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting research and gathering information related to environmental planning, sustainability, climate change, and renewable energy initiatives.
  • Assisting with the preparation of environmental technical documents through research, data analysis, and technical writing.
  • Supporting project teams in evaluating potential environmental impacts of projects proposed on federally owned lands.
  • Contributing to project deliverables while gaining exposure to environmental regulations, planning processes, and best practices.
  • Participating in team meetings, training opportunities, and professional development activities.
  • Managing assigned tasks and meeting project deadlines while developing strong organizational and communication skills.

A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are essential. Familiarity with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) is desirable but not required.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective written, analytical, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong time-management skills and a willingness to seek guidance when needed.
  • Ability to obtain background clearance sufficient for access to military installations and/or controlled-access facilities.
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enthusiasm for learning and developing new skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally within the United States, if needed.

Education and Experience

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Studies, Community/Urban Planning, Environmental Policy, Biology, Geology, or a closely related field.
  • Completion of at least two years of undergraduate coursework is preferred.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
