Architectural Designer
Your Opportunity You will have the opportunity to have a positive impact on communities in the Mid-Atlantic through our educational design studio in Charlottesville, VA. Specifically, you'll be working with experienced school planners, architects, and interior designers to design, document, and administer construction on PreK, elementary, middle, high school, education specialty facility projects. This building type presents a unique opportunity to engage with key decision makers at the community and school division leadership levels as well as work with internal team members in studios across the northeast. While you shape buildings, you'll be shaping the future for generations of students, teachers, and communities. Your Key Responsibilities Participate in team meetings, design charrettes, meetings with clients, and consultant coordination sessions. Attend project coordination and meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants. Assist in site analysis, research of concept, benchmarks, typology, and precedents. Assist project teams in the development of a design through sketches, physical models, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats. Utilize Autodesk Revit and other BIM technologies in the development of three-dimensional models of buildings and their components. Prepare and revise documentation in various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, and details. Implement sustainable design principles into the building design and surrounding environment. Coordinate building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent. Assist in monitoring and coordination of consultant work and deadlines. Keep the Project Manager informed of progress on expectations, deadlines, and deliverables that fall within their responsibility. Assist in contract administration tasks.
