The SDSS Sustainability Accelerator (the Sustainability Accelerator) serves as a launchpad for sustainability solutions, turning innovative ideas into transformative and scalable technologies and policies that will substantially improve the quality of human life and our planet. The Sustainability Accelerator is rooted in the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability and works across the University and with external partners to drive solutions from the lab into the world.
This position will support a newly developed collaboration between the Stanford Sustainability Accelerator and FireWERX - a nonprofit catalyzing FireTech innovation solutions to empower firefighters and end catastrophic wildfire impacts - driving the development and execution of a fire innovation program designed to scale wildfire innovation. The role will work equally between both organizations and managed by the Stanford Sustainability Accelerator.
The Accelerator seeks a candidate with experience in knowledge and partnership management, with a proven ability to maintain and drive the adoption of crucial business practices, systems, and tools, and foster proactive communication across teams. We are looking for someone highly motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills, who is comfortable with a dynamic, start-up-like environment, and who knows how to get things done.

Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience; ideally in science, engineering, environment, sustainability, business, or related discipline.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Support the liaison between the Stanford Sustainability Accelerator and FireWERX, ensuring a strong partnership by aligning program need with its vision, mission, and goals.
- Independently implement, administer and evaluate day-to-day activities of the unit, function or program by identifying and executing tasks and objectives, making recommendations that impact policies and programs, and assigning resources to achieve the goals of the program.
- Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the program or function.
- Analyze and interpret policies; develop, revise and implement procedures for program or function.
- Represent the program or function as the key contact and subject matter expert within the department, unit or school. Commit resources and provide information and/or training. May also represent the program or function to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies.
- Organize and/or participate in outreach activities that may include developing communications and training, planning/promoting events and/or conferences.
- May participate in development of budgets, monitor, and approve expenditures. May perform limited forecasting and provide recommendations that determine the budget.
- Identify and execute key tasks while proactively managing risks, issues, and bottlenecks to ensure the success of the program.
- Coordinate across internal and external teams and stakeholders, managing dependencies and building alignment to ensure cohesive, on-time, and on-budget delivery of the program.
- Design and execute compelling events and outreach initiatives - including defining goals, developing content, securing speakers, managing budgets, and coordinating promotional activities - ensuring alignment with overall program objectives.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor fire innovation projects, ensuring they remain on track and within scope, anticipating evolving needs, mobilizing the right support, and tracking performance and impact.
- Provide regular program updates to FireWERX, synthesizing analyzed data, reports, trends, and recommendations.
- Communicate effectively with leadership, partners, and cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and driving decisions without direct authority.
