Energy Efficiency Specialist

Location: New Jersey (Hybrid – 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

Position Summary

The Energy Efficiency Specialist is responsible for supporting and overseeing energy efficiency programs and projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with program requirements. This role works closely with internal teams, vendors, contractors, and customers to drive successful project execution and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight of project scope, schedule, and budget for energy efficiency initiatives
  • Ensure projects meet all program requirements , including cost-effectiveness and compliance standards
  • Develop and maintain processes for implementing energy efficiency programs and projects
  • Coordinate and manage vendors and contractors , including reviewing deliverables and monitoring performance
  • Review and process vendor invoices and milestone-based payments
  • Perform and oversee QA/QC activities for programs and projects
  • Apply knowledge of energy conservation measures (ECMs) such as HVAC, lighting, motors, and energy management systems
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to support program delivery
  • Compile and analyze project data to track performance and progress
  • Prepare reports, forecasts, and status updates for management
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and internal controls
  • Conduct site visits and inspections as needed
  • Support special projects and ad hoc requests

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 5+ years of experience in energy efficiency programs, construction, or a related field (or 9+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree)
  • Experience with project/program management in energy or construction environments
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency measures and implementation
  • Experience with vendor management, invoicing, and financial tracking/forecasting
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to process improvement
  • Ability to travel locally for site visits and meetings
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with energy efficiency programs or regulatory frameworks
  • Knowledge of cost-effectiveness testing or similar program evaluation methods
  • Building Performance Institute (BPI) Certification
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation
