Sustainability Manager, Asia Pacific

The Sustainability Manager, APAC is responsible for driving the delivery of SSP’s sustainability priorities across the APAC region, translating Group commitments into clear regional plans, market actions and measurable outcomes.

The role will lead APAC sustainability performance and reporting, project-manage applicable climate and sustainability reporting programmes, and deliver strategic sustainability projects across the region. Working across multiple markets and functions, the role will provide the coordination, challenge and support required to turn sustainability commitments into effective business delivery.

Main Responsibilities:

APAC Sustainably Plan & Performance

• Develop and coordinate the annual APAC sustainability plan, translating Group priorities and targets into clear regional and market-level actions, milestones and deliverables.
• Monitor performance against sustainability KPIs and targets, identifying material gaps, risks and opportunities and working with markets to establish appropriate actions.
• Provide clear visibility of APAC sustainability performance, priorities and emerging issues to regional and Group leadership.
• Work with market and functional teams to embed sustainability priorities into relevant business plans and decision-making.
• Identify opportunities and support the delivery of sustainability projects across the region, which may include areas such as menu de-carbonisation, climate and carbon reduction, responsible sourcing, packaging and waste reduction, and other priorities identified through APAC sustainability performance and business needs.
• Evaluate project outcomes and translate learnings into scalable solutions or future regional priorities.
• Support Purchasing teams in driving supplier sustainability initiatives, including supplier engagement, sustainability assessments, responsible sourcing programmes and compliance with SSP supplier standards.
• Support markets in developing and implementing community engagement and social impact initiatives aligned with SSP's sustainability priorities and local business needs.
• Identify opportunities for regional collaboration and scalable solutions across APAC markets.

Sustainability Reporting & Data Governance

• Lead the end-to-end APAC sustainability and GHG reporting cycle, including planning, stakeholder engagement, data readiness, validation, review and submission.
• Ensure reported information is complete, credible and supported by appropriate evidence and controls.
• Analyse and challenge material movements, anomalies and performance trends across markets, working with data owners to resolve gaps and improve reporting quality.
• Coordinate APAC requirements for Group sustainability reporting, internal and external assurance and other relevant disclosures.
• Strengthen sustainability data ownership, reporting processes, controls and data maturity across Finance, Procurement, Commercial, People, Operations and other relevant functions.

Climate & Regulatory Reporting Programmes

• Project-manage SSP Australia’s climate reporting programme, working closely with Australian leadership, Group Sustainability, Finance, Legal, Risk and external advisers to support timely delivery.
• Track programme milestones, dependencies, risks and actions, escalating material issues where intervention is required.
• Monitor emerging sustainability legislation and reporting obligations across APAC, including climate, waste, packaging, due diligence, supplier transparency and other ESG-related requirements.
• Support markets in assessing business implications and coordinating readiness activities where required.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as the regional coordination point between APAC markets, regional leadership and Group Sustainability.
• Build effective relationships with market leadership and key functions including Finance, Procurement, Commercial, People, Operations and Legal.
• Provide practical guidance and support to markets with differing levels of sustainability maturity.
• Build capability through appropriate tools, guidance, training and knowledge sharing.

Person Specification:

• Degree holder in Business Administration, Environmental Science, Finance, or Sustainability
• Relevant experience in corporate sustainability, ESG, climate or environmental management, ideally within a complex, multi-market organisation.
• Strong project and programme management capability, with experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and dependencies.
• Experience in sustainability and GHG reporting, data governance and performance management.
• Understanding of climate-related disclosure and the evolving sustainability regulatory landscape; experience supporting mandatory climate or sustainability reporting programmes would be advantageous.
• Experience supporting sustainability assurance, audit or control frameworks would be advantageous.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interrogate data, identify trends and challenge assumptions and performance.
• Experience working with complex data sets and reporting systems, with the ability to establish governance, controls and reporting processes.
• Ability to translate strategic or technical sustainability requirements into practical business actions and implementation plans.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to work across functions and with senior stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
