Location: Global (Remote/Hybrid)

Experience: 5 to 8 years in KYC, AML, Compliance or Risk roles in the financial sector.

About the Role:


We are seeking a highly organized, action and detail-oriented team member to fulfill a role as our KYC Officer. 


The KYC Officer is responsible for ensuring that all client onboarding, account maintenance, and transaction activities comply with internal policies, regulatory standards, and global AML/CFT (Anti-Money Laundering / Countering the Financing of Terrorism) obligations. The role involves conducting due diligence on customers, verifying identification documents, assessing risk levels, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date customer records.

Reporting to our Chief Risk Officer, your responsibilities will include some of the following:


Key Responsibilities:


1. Customer Due Diligence (CDD) & Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD)


  • Perform KYC checks on new and existing customers in line with internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Review customer identification documents, beneficial ownership structures, and source of funds/wealth.
  • Escalate high-risk cases to Compliance or CRO for further review.
  • Conduct EDD for high-risk customers such as PEPs (Politically Exposed Persons), NGO's and offshore entities.


2. Compliance Monitoring & Reporting


  • Monitor customer transactions to ensure consistency with their profiles and business activities.
  • Identify and report suspicious transactions or unusual patterns to the AML Compliance Officer.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local and international AML/CFT regulations (e.g. FATF, Basel, EU AML Directives, local FIU guidelines).
  • Support the preparation of compliance reports and regulatory filings as required.


3. Data Management & Documentation


  • Maintain and update customer KYC records in the system, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensure documentation retention and retrieval in accordance with record-keeping standards.
  • Support internal and external audits or regulatory reviews by providing relevant KYC data.


4. Risk Assessment & Review


  • Participate in periodic KYC file reviews to assess compliance gaps or data deficiencies.
  • Evaluate customer risk levels and recommend risk ratings in line with established frameworks.
  • Assist in implementing risk-based approaches to KYC and AML monitoring.


5. Policy & Process Improvement


  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of KYC/AML policies, procedures, and control systems.
  • Provide feedback on process inefficiencies and suggest automation or workflow enhancements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Operations, Legal, Front Office) to ensure smooth compliance integration.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Experience


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5–8 years in KYC, AML, Compliance or Risk roles within the financial sector.
  • Certifications (Preferred): Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), ICA Certificate in KYC and Customer Due Diligence, ACAMS, CFCS, or equivalent AML certification
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in additional languages is definitely a plus.
  • Experience in climate, sustainable or regulatory tech sectors is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of AML/CFT laws, KYC standards, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, investigative, and documentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and integrity.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven capability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the utmost discretion.
  • Ability to manage multiple and variable priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and KYC/AML screening systems (e.g., World-Check, LexisNexis, or Dow Jones).
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
