Role Purpose

The Head of Energy will lead the strategy, deployment and operational performance of the energy infrastructure supporting Spiro's electric-mobility ecosystem in DRC. The role combines network planning, project delivery, utility and renewable-energy integration, commercial partnerships, and reliable day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop the DRC energy strategy and phased infrastructure rollout plan aligned with vehicle deployment and commercial growth.
  • Lead planning and delivery of charging, battery-swapping and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • Evaluate and implement suitable grid, solar, storage and hybrid solutions based on site demand, reliability and lifecycle economics.
  • Own site prioritization, technical due diligence, project execution, commissioning and handover into operations.
  • Manage capital budgets, project schedules, technical standards, risk controls and performance reporting.
  • Build productive relationships with utilities, regulators, landlords, EPC partners, equipment suppliers and service contractors.
  • Drive network availability, safety, energy efficiency, maintenance effectiveness and continuous improvement.
  • Build and lead engineering, project and network-operations capability within the country organization.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Renewable Energy or a related technical discipline.
  • Typically 10+ years in power, utilities, renewable energy, electrical infrastructure or distributed-energy operations.
  • Strong experience delivering multi-site infrastructure programs from concept through commissioning.
  • Practical knowledge of solar, electrical distribution, storage, metering, maintenance and contractor management.
  • Experience in emerging markets and environments with grid constraints is highly advantageous.
  • Strong commercial judgement, execution discipline and ability to manage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
