Controls & SCADA Engineer | Utility-Scale BESS & Power Projects
We are currently supporting a global leader in energy storage and grid solutions, Fluence Energy, in identifying a Controls & SCADA Engineer to support large-scale battery energy storage and power integration projects across the U.S.
This is a high-impact, technical leadership role supporting the full lifecycle of utility-scale projects — from design and integration through commissioning.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the design and implementation of SCADA, controls, and industrial networking systems across multiple projects
- Support BESS and power plant integration , including EMS, PLCs, HMIs, and plant-level controls
- Own controls architecture, points mapping, and system integration strategies
- Drive FAT/SAT testing and commissioning support to ensure smooth project delivery
- Act as the technical escalation point for complex controls and SCADA issues
- Collaborate with EPC teams, internal engineering groups, and subcontractors to deliver projects on time and within budget
What We’re Looking For
- 7+ years of experience in SCADA, controls, or industrial automation within power, utilities, or renewables
- Strong hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems
- Experience with industrial communication protocols (DNP3, IEC 61850, Modbus, OPC, etc.)
- Background working on EPC projects or utility-scale infrastructure
- Understanding of HV/MV systems and grid integration
- Ability to operate in a client-facing, multi-project environment
Nice to Have
- Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or renewable energy projects
- Exposure to OT networking, cybersecurity, or SCADA platforms like Ignition
- Familiarity with virtualization tools (VMware, Docker) or Linux environments
