Controls & SCADA Engineer | Utility-Scale BESS & Power Projects

We are currently supporting a global leader in energy storage and grid solutions, Fluence Energy, in identifying a Controls & SCADA Engineer to support large-scale battery energy storage and power integration projects across the U.S.

This is a high-impact, technical leadership role supporting the full lifecycle of utility-scale projects — from design and integration through commissioning.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the design and implementation of SCADA, controls, and industrial networking systems across multiple projects
  • Support BESS and power plant integration , including EMS, PLCs, HMIs, and plant-level controls
  • Own controls architecture, points mapping, and system integration strategies
  • Drive FAT/SAT testing and commissioning support to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Act as the technical escalation point for complex controls and SCADA issues
  • Collaborate with EPC teams, internal engineering groups, and subcontractors to deliver projects on time and within budget

What We’re Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience in SCADA, controls, or industrial automation within power, utilities, or renewables
  • Strong hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols (DNP3, IEC 61850, Modbus, OPC, etc.)
  • Background working on EPC projects or utility-scale infrastructure
  • Understanding of HV/MV systems and grid integration
  • Ability to operate in a client-facing, multi-project environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or renewable energy projects
  • Exposure to OT networking, cybersecurity, or SCADA platforms like Ignition
  • Familiarity with virtualization tools (VMware, Docker) or Linux environments
