In this role you will be responsible for the implementation of the South Yorkshire Police Waste Strategy to achieve compliant and cost-effective management of all waste streams. In addition the role will involve the management of waste, including procurement, budgets and compliance; carbon reporting and decarbonisation.

In this role you will be responsible for the implementation of the South Yorkshire Police Waste Strategy to achieve compliant and cost-effective management of all waste streams. In addition the role will involve the management of waste, including procurement, budgets and compliance; carbon reporting and decarbonisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage procurement activity for all waste disposal and utility contracts to ensure compliance with Procurement protocols.
- Review financial standards and correct procurement processes and ensure compliance for all waste disposal contracts; monitor and report progress to the Sustainability
- Lead on contract management to ensure excellent service provision for all waste streams, utilities, and renewables by managing: Health and Safety and access requirements; expenditure and adherence to budgets.
- Manage budgets for all relevant waste streams, to ensure adherence to allocated budgets.
- Establish and maintain reporting and KPI's for all waste streams utilities and produce reports for the Sustainability Manager and other stakeholders as required.
- Develop and manage a waste improvement programme and work with the Performance team in EFM in their development of an energy efficiency (carbon reduction) programme to promote innovative ways of working, facilitating continuous improvement and delivery.
- Manage waste disposal activities to achieve full compliance with all relevant waste and environmental legislation.
- Provide waste solutions and facilitate disposal, for projects in the EFM capital programme, or as required by Districts/Departments.
- Assist in the development of the Strategy Delivery Programme, the annual waste report and the waste engagement and communications plan.
- Facilitate the provision of waste training and education to key stakeholders across the force, to ensure disposal processes are understood and implemented.

- Carry out research and networking to keep abreast of changes and developments in waste legislation and best practice/innovation in waste management.
- Manage the utilities billing system to ensure accurate recording and processing of all utility billing data.
- Manage carbon emissions reporting and develop emissions trajectory to track achievement of targets.
- Support the Sustainability Manager in the monitoring, management and delivery of the Force Climate Action targets outlined in the Sustainability Strategy.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience of summarising, interpreting, and presenting data and numerical information, as well as report writing and presentation skills.
- Knowledge and experience of waste and carbon management.
- Educated to Degree Level in an appropriate subject matter area or equivalent or sufficient relevant experience.
- Willing to work towards a waste management qualification while on the job.
- Able to travel both within and outside the SYP force area as required.
