The Compliance Market team sits in a business line responsible for our Go-to-Market strategy and commercial performance in carbon markets. The team brings market insight, product direction, and commercial execution into one place and helps the business adapt faster as markets, buyers, and policy evolve.

The team is seeking a Compliance Market Senior Lead to join our Compliance Market team. The role sits at the intersection of technical expertise, market intelligence, and commercial support. The Senior Lead will be central to our mission of sourcing, developing and selling high-impact carbon projects by providing the analytical backbone and government engagement support for our global compliance sales, and helping ensure the product-market fit of our project origination pipeline, leveraging deep market insights to drive strategic decision-making. You will be responsible for analyzing regulatory developments, market data, and policy trends, helping the team identify emerging risks and commercial opportunities to underpin future market offerings. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between technical policy analysis and commercial strategy, ensuring our origination and sales decisions are evidence-driven and forward-looking in view of ever evolving compliance requirements.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Tracking policy trends and developments in compliance carbon market regulation among buy-side regulators, host governments and under UN and ICAO processes, assessing associated market risks and opportunities and communicating implications for sales and sourcing to relevant internal teams.
  • Maintain solid network of relations with environment ministries, in particular in the Asia region, to nurture Article 6 project development and navigate authorisation processes
  • Business development: In close discussion with governments, identify new business opportunities and compliance market segments in close coordination with the Sales, Portfolio, and Sourcing teams.
  • Commercial: Steer technical input on sovereign RFPs, compliance deal structuring, and client proposals targeting the sale of compliance market certificates - ensuring alignment between customer needs, regulatory requirements, and South Pole's portfolio
  • Communications and marketing: Support the development of South Pole's advocacy materials, marketing content, and product positioning on in compliance markets, in coordination with MarComms
  • Knowledge management: Supervise and improve internal tools, dashboards, and knowledge resources which inform our commercial strategy and sourcing playbooks. Lead knowledge-sharing activities across the business line, helping colleagues understand CORSIA and Article 6 developments and the implications for our their KPIs and our business success
  • Reporting & Visualisation: Prepare high-quality analytical reports, briefs, and data visualizations for internal and external stakeholders translating technical policy findings in concise commercial implications


Requirements:

  • University degree in political science, environmental economics or other relevant field
  • Good understanding of global climate policy and carbon markets landscape
  • Minimum 6 years of professional experience in carbon markets or related field
  • Experience working with Environment Ministries in Asia
  • Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to perform policy and market analysis
  • Proficiency in data analysis, risk metrics, environmental or financial modelling
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel) and Google Suite applications
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-time zone environment and convey complex data to diverse audiences.
  • Working proficiency in English
