Under the mission of 'Accelerating the Global Transition to Renewable Energy and Phasing Out Fossil Fuels,' we continuously identify and expand on the most urgent issues that need to be addressed to combat the climate crisis. By collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, we promote tangible change.
SFOC currently focuses on three major areas: Fossil Fuel Phase-Out, Industrial Decarbonization, and Renewable Energy Expansion. To drive effective climate crisis response, we employ a variety of tactics including research, communication, diplomacy, legal action, and civil society alliances.
Believing that 'People' are the key to tackling the climate crisis, we work alongside experts from various fields to engage in climate action. SFOC embraces a creative approach, unrestricted by conventional strategies, to find solutions.
We collaborate with partners in Korea, other parts of Asia, and around the world. Centered on climate agendas that SFOC emphasizes, we aim to grow as a key organization in the global response to the climate crisis.
Job Description
Through collaboration with academia, civil society, and corporates, the SFOC industry team (Steel) conducts research and launches campaigns to induce structural changes toward decarbonising the industrial sectors of steel, shipping, and tackle methane emissions in the energy sector.

Job Description

SFOC is seeking a Researcher within the Steel Team whose responsibilities are as follows:
Responsibilities
- Conduct analysis and review on emission reduction measures regarding the Industry(steel) sector
- Engage the relevant policies for government, budget and legislation procedure in National Assembly
- Communicate and build solidarity with domestic and int’l climate organisations.
- Support relevant campaigns and hosting of events, including seminars.
- Understand and analyze industrial sector decarbonization
- Capability to analyze and understand agenda on decarbonation of industry(Steel) sectors.
- Leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement skills
- Teamwork and collaboration
- Relation to the mission, vision, and value of SFOC
- More than 12 months of relevant work or research experience
- Interest in industrial emissions, decarbonization, climate, environment, and energy issues.
- Climate, energy, environment-related major
- Experience in work or activity Steel sector
- Experience of advocacy or campaign in civil society
- Skill of writing and communicating in English and Korean
- English or Korean Cover Letter and Resume (in PDF format)
