Organization Description
SFOC was established in South Korea in 2016 with the goal of most effectively reducing greenhouse gases in line with the Paris Agreement's target to limit the global average temperature increase to within 1.5°C.
Under the mission of 'Accelerating the Global Transition to Renewable Energy and Phasing Out Fossil Fuels,' we continuously identify and expand on the most urgent issues that need to be addressed to combat the climate crisis. By collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, we promote tangible change.
SFOC currently focuses on three major areas: Fossil Fuel Phase-Out, Industrial Decarbonization, and Renewable Energy Expansion. To drive effective climate crisis response, we employ a variety of tactics including research, communication, diplomacy, legal action, and civil society alliances.
Believing that 'People' are the key to tackling the climate crisis, we work alongside experts from various fields to engage in climate action. SFOC embraces a creative approach, unrestricted by conventional strategies, to find solutions.
We collaborate with partners in Korea, other parts of Asia, and around the world. Centered on climate agendas that SFOC emphasizes, we aim to grow as a key organization in the global response to the climate crisis.
Team Introduction
Transitioning away from fossil fuel centric financial structure is a decisive factor to achieve Paris Agreement’s goal and Korea’s carbon neutrality commitment. The Public Finance Korea team works to hold Korean public financial institutions accountable for fossil fuel financing and drive policy reform toward renewable based clean energy financing. We pursue this through policy advocacy, research, civil society coalition building, and strategic communications.

기후솔루션은 지구의 평균 기온 상승을 1.5°C내로 제한하자는 파리 협정의 목표에 맞게 온실가스를 가장 효과적으로 감축한다는 목표로 2016년 한국에서 출범하였습니다.
‘전 세계 탈 화석 연료 및 재생에너지 전환의 가속화’라는 단체의 미션 하에 기후 위기 대응을 위해 가장 시급하게 해결되어야 하는 주제를 지속적으로 발굴 및 확장하며, 다양한 이해관계자들과 협력해 실질적인 변화를 촉진하고 있습니다.
기후솔루션은 현재 탈화석연료, 산업 탈탄소화, 재생에너지 확대 등 크게 3개 부문을 중점으로 활동합니다. 효과적인 기후위기 대응을 위해 리서치, 커뮤니케이션, 외교, 리걸, 시민사회 연대 등 다양한 택틱을 활용하여 변화를 가속화합니다.
기후 위기 대응에 가장 중요한 열쇠는 ‘사람’이라는 믿음으로, 다양한 분야에서 전문성을 쌓은 인재들과 함께 기후 대응 활동을 펼치고 있습니다. 기후솔루션은 해결책을 찾기 위한 전략적 경로에 제한을 두지 않고, 기존에 없던 창의적인 방법으로 접근합니다.

Key Responsibilities
- Investigate public finance institutions' exposure to fossil fuel financing, environmental-social impacts, stranded asset risks, and policy reform pathways. Produce or oversee policy briefs, reports, and data analysis that support campaign strategy.
- Key stakeholders(domestic/international civil society organizations, National Assembly, Public Agencies, media, investors), Strategizing campaigns and implementation
- Shape media narratives around the financial, economic, and climate risks of fossil fuel financing. Develop materials for Korean and international audiences; support op-eds, media actions, and awareness campaigns.
- Critical thinker who can analyze complex policy and financial landscapes and translate them into actionable strategy
- Strategic mindset; able to see how individual workstreams connect to larger campaign goals
- Collaborative and open communicator; this role requires close coordination across teams, partners, and external stakeholders
- Comfortable working in a diverse, international environment with colleagues and partners across multiple countries and cultures
- Fluent in Korean; strong working proficiency in English
- 1~3 years of professional experience in any relevant field. Non-profit experience is not required; we value transferable skills from any sector.
- Background in public policy, finance, economics, law, or environmental studies
- Experience working across cultures or in international teams
- Familiarity with Korean public finance institutions or energy policy landscape

- 공적금융기관의 화석연료 투·융자·보증 현황, 환경·사회 영향, 좌초자산 리스크, 정책 개혁 방향에 대한 조사 및 분석. 캠페인 전략을 뒷받침하는 정책 브리프, 보고서, 데이터 분석 산출물 작성 및 관리.
- 국내외 시민사회, 국회, 관계 부처, 언론, 투자자 등 주요 이해관계자 관여. 관련 캠페인 기획 및 실행
- 화석연료 금융의 재정적, 경제적, 기후 리스크에 대한 미디어 내러티브 구축. 국내외 대상 캠페인 자료 개발, 기고문 및 미디어 활동 지원.
- 복잡한 정책·금융 이슈를 분석하고 실행 가능한 전략으로 전환할 수 있는 비판적 사고력
- 개별 업무가 캠페인 전체 목표에 어떻게 연결되는지 파악하는 전략적 시야
