Position Overview
We are seeking a rare combination of talent: an outgoing person who thrives in conversations with farm owners, agriculture executives, and rural business leaders yet is disciplined and self-motivated enough to succeed working from home. In this role, you will engage agriculture companies, co-ops, food processors, and related enterprises, educate them about the value of community solar, and set qualified appointments for our outside sales team. You’ll also collaborate with different departments to support the sales process and help ensure successful outcomes. While this is a remote role, occasional travel may be required for team meetings, farm site visits, agricultural expos, or industry events.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct outbound calls and outreach to prospects to introduce Solar On Earth and educate them on community solar.
Leverage understanding of farming operations, agribusiness challenges, and rural infrastructure needs to build meaningful connections.
Qualify prospects and schedule high-quality appointments for the outside sales team.
Partner closely with outside sales and internal teams to support the sales cycle and help drive deals to closure.
Maintain accurate, organized records of all outreach activities and appointments in CRM.
Consistently meet and exceed outreach and appointment-setting goals.
Qualifications
1–3 years of inside sales, business development, or lead generation experience (B2B preferred).
Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to connect across multiple levels of an organization.
Familiarity or direct experience working with agriculture businesses, farms, food production companies, or cooperatives strongly preferred.
Ability to work independently from home with some travel.
Outgoing personality with the confidence to engage new prospects and handle objections.
Knowledge of agricultural industry trends, sustainability practices, and renewable energy adoption in farming is a plus.
Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
