Solar Installers (also known as Solar Photovoltaic Installers or PV Installers) are responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining solar panel systems on residential, commercial, or industrial properties. Their work is crucial for advancing renewable energy and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess installation sites for suitability and optimal panel placement
- Measure, cut, and assemble structural framing and solar modules
- Install and secure solar panels and related equipment on rooftops or land
- Connect solar panels to electrical systems, ensuring proper wiring and grounding
- Apply weather sealing and ensure all installations are waterproof and compliant with safety standards
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on solar systems
- Explain installation processes and solar benefits to customers, providing ongoing support and answering questions
- Adhere to local building codes, safety guidelines, and industry best practices
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Understanding of electrical systems and wiring
- Ability to safely access rooftops and handle large equipment
- Proficiency with hand and power tools
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Good communication and customer service abilities
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical or trade school training is a plus)
