A Solar Electrician specializes in the installation, maintenance, and repair of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. This role requires electrical expertise and a focus on safety, efficiency, and compliance with codes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Install, maintain, and repair solar PV systems, including panels, inverters, wiring, and other electrical components for residential and commercial properties.
  2. Connect solar panels and inverters to the building’s electrical system, ensuring all work meets state and local codes.
  3. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to plan installations.
  4. Perform electrical wiring, conduit installation, and system grounding for solar projects.
  5. Inspect, test, and troubleshoot solar installations for safety and performance, diagnosing and repairing faults as needed.
  6. Upgrade or replace existing solar equipment to improve system efficiency.
  7. Maintain detailed records of installations, repairs, and inspections.
  8. Train and mentor junior electricians and apprentices on solar installation best practices.
  9. Communicate with customers regarding system use, maintenance, and safety.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  1. Valid Georgia electrician’s license (or ability to obtain one). Experience in electrical work, preferably with solar PV systems.
  2. Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations.
  3. Ability to work on rooftops and in various weather conditions.
  4. Proficiency with hand and power tools, conduit bending, and electrical testing equipment.
  5. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  6. High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in electrical or renewable energy fields is a plus.
